can someone recommend a variable width theme that doesn't break or acts uniformly in all three browsers? I'm mainly interested in getting a fixed maxed width in the left/right column but that doesn't happen with for example the default theme across all three browsers. It should be fixed even if say there's no middle block or left block.

the best solution is to customize a theme and fine tune your theme trought the 3 CSS Files. You could learn many tips for building themes on docs.xoops.org in the official documents

gosh. I guess you are right. I shouldn't be so lazy. I'll take a look at the pdf and try to make one. but if anyone sees this and know a good variable length theme that won't break across browsers. That would be nice too.

The three CSS in your each theme folder are:

style.css
styleMAC.css (No need)
styleNN.css (No need)

All you do it's to use the style.css and the site will be compatible with every browsers on the any operation system.

Check out my site, I made myself a complex theme, it's hard to do it but it work on every browser I have tested. So general and basic theme will be working propertly on any browser unless you have some special css code which only compatible to a specific browser.

your sites appear to be a fixed length website. I'm talking about variable length websites that span depending on the size of the browser.

Sorry for interruption but I don't want to create another topic.
So if I remove styleMAC.css & styleNN.css, my theme will work normally in every browser?

Do you have anything in the styleMAC.css and styleNN.css?

If so just leave it and even it's blank inside. Nothing will bother the theme.

No, I don't have anything in them. But my members are telling my that my web site is not working in Opera, Mozilla...........

Nod. I have the same problem. I noticed this usually has to do with blocks like minical which will overstretch the columns. You can selectively remove blocks and it should look like more normal.
