UPDATE:

I tried James' solution, but it appears the little parasite wormed his way into the database, not just the XOOPs files.

My solution? Tear the whole thing down and start over again. And be as careful as possible next time.

I think a good habit to get into is daily and weekly backups with offsite downloads. Some host provide this service automatically. It's worth asking your provider. I wiped the db of one of my sites and my host "startlogic" was able to restore from one of their nightly backups.

"OSMANLI KARTALI" is actually a Turkish movie from 1969.... One of my sites has been hacked by this person several times. To whoever it is who is doing this I say: "As-sam Alaikum!" (Death to you.)

Ive had the same problem from the same moron.

They managed to get into the server when there was a ddos attack. from there they reaked havic to many sites. on of them happened to be a close friend and now a client.
he was running the latest version of phpnuke.

with in a months time the phpnuke site he had was hacked 12 times. the last was this Moron you speak of.

after a little while and a nice phonecall.
my fiend is now part of the ever growing XOOPS population.

Happened to my friend John's site as well... I have made it a point to switch all sites I have anything to do with to XOOPS 2.2.3. I also changed all the passwords. What a pain in the butt though.

Nothing is ever completely 100% secure but using what measures the developers have created and suggest will abundantly decrease the chances of being hacked.

OOPS... had to backpedal and accidentally re-posted here. I already made my reply in the other thread anyway. I have promoted XOOPS, voted for XOOPS and I feel like my opinion is valid.
