It kind of reminds me of the swiss army knife. Lots of features in a recognizable package.

I think a good habit to get into is daily and weekly backups with offsite downloads. Some host provide this service automatically. It's worth asking your provider. I wiped the db of one of my sites and my host "startlogic" was able to restore from one of their nightly backups.

Xoops should be written for the complete newb in mind. This includes a simple page that says if you want to do this.. . then use this module etc! The simpler the better! No guess work.

mhpalm,

You'll find a link top of XOOPS home page to download the latest version of Xoops. In the docs you'll find the min requirements that XOOPS needs to work. Check these againts your host to be sure XOOPS will run on that host server.

Once you get XOOPS up and running you'll need to pick modules. XOOPS has plenty of these. You'll likely need a news module of sorts. The latest news mod by hervert or smartfactory.ca will be what you're looking for. Other mods needed will depend on what you want to do.

Ask if your not sure.

Last I checked I wasn't wearing a badge. No Tom... not sensorship. Just pointing out that this is a XOOPS forum. Often threads become negative toward Xoops, individuals and yes even other CMS. It's true this is an open forum however these forums are here to support Xoops, our community, and potential new users. The content and tone of our post have bearing on this being a healthy community, and impact potential new users, drive off old users, and generally give others across the CMS community an opinion often undeserving of Xoops.

My opinion of course, but I still stand by my previous post.

Michael,

You might ask on the forums @ www.clantemplates.com. I'm not sure if any of those guys will work for free, but you'll find a lot of talented theme designers and plenty of people that can make nice graphics. Anyway its worth looking at.
