I have the latest XOOPS and installed the forums, but I want the forums to display like they do here, where all the threads show up under a topic.

Currently you have to click on each response to thread to see it.

What do I need to do?

TIA

Hello Tabasco

In system admin/preferences/general settings go to "Default Comment Display Mode" and choode "flat", users in their profiles can also choose this there own defaults.

I know it says "comments", but this also applies to the newwbb forum in Xoops

I set it to Flat in system admin/preferences/general settings under Default Comment Display Mode"

But now users have to set it to flat also?

It doesn't seem to be automatically displaying the flat display, until a user does it himself

Am I missing something?

TIA

I think this is a bug. It reproduces exactly.

No this is not an XOOPS error. I had the same problem and so did a search in the forum for the words flat forum display or something of that ilk.

It is essentially a user error.

You see you went into preferences as told to do above, as I did. Then you went and viewed the forum, and DAMMIT it did not change.

Well hmmmmmm

I got to that point and instead of calling it a bug I looked further into it.

It seems because the default for the site in my case was nested. All of the users had defaulted to Nested too, including myself.

I had to go make the change in my user setting as well as my site preferences.

I am going now to see if I can edit the users current display method without going into the DB, Cool

Hehehehe

So if you go to your admin area and choose users then choose edit user you can fix it all for your users too.

There we go, it's all good.

Not a bug, but a lack of a feature

I'm certain Predator will do something about in the next newBB version (which is in prototype atm)

The next Version will have the Module Config Setting:

View Mode of the Threads

To override the General Settings to the viewmode of the Threads choice FLAT, THREADED or NONE for no overriding.

This will override the User or System Setting, but you can still change the View of the current Threads by click the Point Thread ot Flat at the top and Bottom of a Thread.
