Hey guys,
Thanks for your support, deeply appreciated !

In reply to your suggestions, I have tried chmoding the cache folder to 444 and 777 but with no luck...

As of the PHP Version it seems to be running on 4.4.2 (http://www.radiofmr.com/info.php) and i'm not too sure of how to find the MySQL version...

Any advice on solving this would be much appreciated...

Thanks in advance,

Sam

EDIT: I cant post this message in Firefox... grrr...I get a message on a pink background that says "Could not insert forum post", grrr... whats wrong today.... Weird no ?

Hello guys,
I'm not having any luck today...
First i've not been able to post here, been getting an error, hope that this message will go through !

I spent 5 hours setting up a new XOOPS as my old one seemed to have died and I figured it would be easier to set up a new one.

So I set it up, everything is superb, i'm about to call it a day, when I try to login and realise that it doesnt work... When using the side block login nothing happens ! I have to go through the user.php page to login sucessfully...

Once in, I click to access the admin menu, and a window pops up saying that this is my first time in the control panel... So I click submit, and nothing, I am sent back to this same page...

Any idea guys ? Your help would be muchly appreciated !

Please help me out here, i'm totally stuck...

Sam

2.2.3 has issues with blocks - which is exactly why I went back to 2.0.13.2 from the 2.2.x branch of xoops. In my opinion, it's unstable, and after asking admins about they issue, one of them admitted that there are block problems.

When did you install the 'latest' version of xoops, and what exactly is the filename of the tar.gz or .zip archive?

This is because some block bug fixes were made between 2.2.3 and 2.2.3 final

Thank you for the prompt reply.
The original file for the installation is xoops-2.2.3a-Final.zip

Would you be able to tell me what is the lastest stable version ?

Thanks,

Sam

Hey Guys,
I have just installed the lastest XOOPS version and have configured everything the way I usually do, I am however experiencing a little problem !

1. When setting up the "Recent news" block, this block does not show on the homepage whereas all others do...

2. When I try to edit a news posts I get the following message:
Sorry, you don't have the permission to access this area.

If the page does not automatically reload, please click here

This even thu all permissions have been set correctly ...

YOUR help in resolving those issues would be much appreciated !

Thank YOU in advance,

Sam

Hi,
I would appreciate if anyone could help me out, I have downloaded 'Simplified URLs 1.4' and followed the instructions however I am experiencing some problems.

For info my homepage module was 'news'.

Going to my root domain (www.kragoo.com) gives me an error 404. However going to www.kragoo.com/modules/news works and I notice that the article links are rewrotten however when clicking on them I get a 404 error.

If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it !

Thanks

Sam

Hi guys,
I have installed XOOPS on my site (www.krooga.com) with my homepage module being the news one. When going to krooga.com, the url is therefore www.krooga.com/module/news, my question is: is there a way to remove the /moduls/news from my page (only for the homepage) ?

Please let me know,

Thanks

Hi guys,
I am writting this thread as I have looked everywhere and i cannot seem to find any info on Search Engine Optimization with Xoops. I have come to a stage where my XOOPS site has alot of content and I am looking to optimize it fully in order to make it more search engine friendly.

Below I will list a few things that I would like to be done, all those things are points which when done can greatly enhance search engine listing.

If there is allready a post on this please forgive me for posting this and kindly point me to the right thread

EXTRA SEO FEATURES

- URL Rewriting,
when browsing an article with the news module, say the title of the article is 'Red widget are the best', the url would ideally read something like:
http://www.mysite.com/modules/news/red_widget_are_the_best.php

This url encoding could also apply to the forums and other modules.

- Page title
When browsing an article, the name of the article could ideally appear in the title along with the category!
EX: The title of the article - Category name

- Meta Tags
If meta tags could be defined for each page as oppose to the global site, if this is possible please do let me know how to accheive this

- Alt Images,
the possibility to place ALT tags in news category images

All those features would be a great start, do let us know if you have other ideas of other DEV that would increase SEO,

Thanks for your time,

Krooga
