davidl2 you're right, here is the info from the readme.html

4. Tips

Update XML feed content automatically by using cron job

the API file: XOOPS_ROOT_PATH/cache/xmline/xmline.php. The file is created during installation, you may re-create whenever it is deleted.

add cronjob: the command to run: YourPhpPath XOOPS_ROOT_PATH/cache/xmline/xmline.php

if you do not have cron, let someone else help update your XMLine using his cron: (http://)YourXoopsURL/cache/xmline/xmline.php

At least, you can use pseudo-cron: put the link (http://)YourXoopsURL/cache/xmline/xmline.php to some page of your site, such as the include/common.php

Wouldn't simply reloading or updating the module set all of this straight?

I recently installed this module as well.

It seems that it does NOT auto Update or fetch the feed.

If you select the [update] it will read the associated site, but does nothing to continue to update it that I can see.

vaughan, thank you, I've read it so many times in so many ways it was confusing me. That is what I thought as far as the branches coming back together. I haven't been on the forums too much as of late and after some searching and not coming up with a good explaniation I'd thought I'd ask 'again'

Actually, you should ask phppp about the 2.2.5 status. He's the developer who took on the task of releasing the update release for XOOPS 2.2.4. .............

So: the status of 2.2.x is in short: not recommended for new users, maitenance releases only, RC release published, but very little actual feedback on the RC.

Ask phppp to make it final, as the very last of the 2.2 series of XOOPS releases. If that makes you feel better

The version convention has always stumped me, however I do have a site running 2.2.4, I want to move on with the site, what are my options?

IF 2.2.5 gets done, what will be the upgrade path from there if any?

IF there is no upgrade path from 2.2.5, HOW then do I get back to something that I can upgrade with?

Last year I approached several module developers to help me with the development of a project for our fire service.
Most of the people I had approached responded, that is not the problem. One wanted 5K $US (4x the annual budget of the org.) The remaing never really followed through.

What I need is at least some help and direction on the best approach to our situation, I feel that the data we have is fairly unique and sensitive therefore if a hacked module is used, it needs to be clean. I don't know enough about xoops, sql to take it on, I am able in other programming areas. I guess I need a collaborator with a excellent working knowledge of XOOPS / sql to make my project work.

I will not post the project specifics here but will forward my needs to those of you who are interested in helping me.

This is for a NON Profit org. , with a limited budget, I'd like to be able to pay someone a huge amount to do this professionally but that is NOT going to happen. So please spare me all the poor not getting paid programmer stuff, If you want to help please reply.

Thanks in advance to those of you who do.

Once you drill down to a topic, assuming that you have admin authority, you will have a button called'topic options' there you will find what you are looking for. Again this is under the actual topic, not on the admin side, but an admin function in the topic itself.
