thats because development is prioritised for XOOPS 2.3/2.4 and the 2.0.x branch.
you always knew 2.2.x would get less development than the rest, so why complain now?
and as david says, it's at RC status, if nobody is reporting bugs or even providing feedback to the devs regarding it, how the hell do they know if it's working correctly or not? do they just make it final as is? or do they wait for proper feedback?
i'm pretty sure people would complain further if they released as is and it turned out to be buggy again because those same users haven't provided feedback at all (and i mean provided feedback in the correct channels) go look at the bug tracker, see what bugs are open and then go see if 2.2.5rc2 has those bugs or not. let the devs know if they have correctly fixed those bugs or not and maybe 2.2.5 final will come along a lot quicker.
