Cheers for that. I've installed WAMP, but i'm having some issues installing XOOPS on it..

Or more specifically, once i've filled in the 'General Configeration' form and cliced next, it come up with a screen saying it has 'Failed writing constant'.

I click next, and the next page says:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in C:\wamp\www\baldwin\mainfile.php on line 32

Any suggestions?

I'm sure I read somewhere that it is possible to create XOOPS sites whilst offline, e.g. by using your PC as a server.

I've searched all over the site though and I can't find anything even hinting that this is possible. Was I just dreaming...?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for your replies.

I've got phpMyAdmin, but I can't see the option to back up the tables anywhere. Does 'export' have the same effect?

If you'd downloaded the 1.7 version there wouldn't be any problems of triple listed addresses.

I've just downloaded the 1.7 version. Is it possible to install the 1.7 version and copy over the addresses from the 1.5 version?

Thanks

Uninstalling a module (Addresses) - database question

Short question really - i'm using version 1.5 of the Address Module (click here for XOOPS mod listing)and the listed addresses are being shown twice, sometimes even 3 times. Click here to look for yourself.

What i'm thinking I might do about it is uninstall the address module, and then reinstall it. So the question is, if I uninstall the module, will it delete the relevant entries in the database? There's 79 or so addresses on my site that I really don't want to have to put in again..

Thanks.

That was a bit of a coincidence - when it first went down a few days ago I asked the guy who runs the server to restore the site from an earlier bakup, which he just did, and it started working again.

It's not working any more though, but that's more a server problem than an XOOPS problem. as soon as the site was up, I replaced the theme.html file with an updated version. For some reason though, files are only partially being uploaded now, so because the theme.html file isn't complete, it comes up as a blank page.

Bah.

My Website

It's been coming up with the following errormessage for the last few days now. There is no problem with the server, and i've just checked the dadtabase and I can still access it.

Quote:
This page cannot be displayed due to an internal error.

If you are the administrator of this site, please visit the XOOPS Troubleshooting Page for assistance.

Error [Xoops]: Unable to connect to database in file class/database/databasefactory.php line 34

Has anyone got any advice on what I should do? It's gotten quite serious now so i'm thinking about just reinstalling Xoops. Is there a way for me to save the current users on the database and transfer them to a new database?

Thanks.

I've just had a look in the database.. there are no duplicate rows.

Furthermore, if you look at thislink, you will see some links are repeated and some aren't.

The 'Baby Judas' listing at the top was only included today which may be why it wasn't repeated, however the Jusure link at the bottom wasn't repeated either and that was one of the first submitted. Very incosistent, and kinda alarming.. can anyone help? I'm considering having to wipe the whole thing but that would take ages, and if I had to wipe the forums i'd loose all the posts..

Thanks for the reply Brash.

Anyway, as the problem involes duplicate records, you cannot use an SQL statement to simply delete the unwanted data. What I did to fix it was export the appropriate database table(s) to an SQL file and then manually deleted each duplicate record. I then removed (dropped) that table(s) from the database and imported my modified SQL file back into the database. Not perfect, but a hell of a lot better than starting again.

I've not been using XOOPS for long, and before this i've only been using HTMl. Where abouts can I find the appropriate database, or is there a guide or anything I could go off?

Thanks

I'm having a really annoying probem with XOOPS at the moment. I've just launched my site last week and it's in a few newspapers on Friday and Saturday so i'm trying pretty hard to get this sorted but i'm pretty stuck.. anyway, on with the problem.

Pretty much, some things on the site are being repeated - listings in my address module (Version 1.5 click XOOPS listing of module) as well as where it says the moderators for each forum.

An example of the forums, click here.

An example of the double listing in the address book, click here.

The problems were noticed after I did a failed upgrade from v.2.0.9.2 to v.2.0.13.1. My other XOOPS website on the same server, messed up pretty badly and it had to be backed up from an earlier copy.

Is there any way I can fix this, or what would you recommend?

Thanks in advance.
