I have the same problem. Patro, it looks like most of your images are showing now except Avatars. I have no images or buttons at all. Just text and placeholders with little red X. I had the same problem with the SMF Bulliten Board. The problem stumped the support staff so I decided to give XOOPS a try. The fact that two different programs have the same problem makes me think that there is some characteristic of the server that is causing it but I don't know what.

I had the same problem until I changed the cache,uploads and template_c directories to chmod 777. Now it appears that everything works except the images, buttons, banners, and avatars. They are not displaying. I had the same problem with a BB I was trying to install. I gave up and deleted it after the problem stumpped the support staff. Let me know if this gives you the same problem.
