Missing user_avatar...

Odd one here. My website's authentication type is LDAP (Active Directory). When a user logs into the site for the first time using his AD credentials, a user record is written into the xoops_users table of the website database, but the user_avatar field is not populated (at all). So when the site attempts to dispaly their avatar you get a fancy red X placeholder since it's trying to load "uploads/" as the image.

Any pointers on where/how to change the php so "blank.gif" is inserted in the field by default when a new LDAP user is added?

No. The only file in the cache folder is index.html. Makes me think this may be a folder permissions issue. However, the cache folder has the same user permissions as the templates_c folder and that one has files written to it.

I agree that it would be easy, but my company wants to use IIS :(

Anyway, yes the admin account I created is in the users table. Everything looks as though it should work, it just isn't.

I just installed the latest version of XOOPS on my new Vista machine running IIS7, PHP 5.2.4, and mySQL 5.0.45. I was able to configure everything to the point that the install proceeded without error.

When I navigated to my site, I was able to log in (again, login successful), but I have no option to go to the admin section. If I navigate to localhost/admin.php I'm told I don't have permission.

Now, I'm used to Linux permissions and not terribly so with IIS. I have granted the IUSR account full control of the cache, templates_c, uploads, and php session folders as well as mainfile.php. I have applied the cmd-line fixes for IIS's temp folders. Not sure what to do here.

Any IIS7 gurus out there? Would love to get this working. Thanks all!

I'd love someone who is running a working 2.2 site to post a link. Preferably with the "working" modules populated with data so I can see if these are bugs I'm encountering or not.

For instance, with News 1.3.11 all new posts are by "Anonymous" regardless of whether or not you specify a user. By and large I'm happy the stuff that matters is working, but little annoyances like these keep creeping in :(

Same happened to me. What it looks like to me is that the site is now referring to users by Real Name instead of Username. A quick fix is to edit the database directly and make everyone's username and real name the same - it's a dirty hack I grant you, but it at least looks better than a bunch of blank space.

As an aside - I'm interested in using the nightly build to see if some of my RC issues have been solved, but I can't figure out how to do it. The download conatins just one very large file that is a concatenation of all the site files - how does the engine process that? Or have I grabbed the wrong file?

Anyone know?

Cheers.

Yes, I think you are the first to try this.

I'm not sure whether allowing HTML in the user rank is a good thing or a minor detail that might as well be allowed... Maybe we should rather try to add a colour attribute to the ranks?

I agree wholeheartedly - I just tried the HTML hack because that's how you have to do it in other forums (many times you have to actually edit the database directly). It would be great to just be able to put, say RANK, in and have it work.

Cheers

So... I'm the first person that's wanted to do this I take it?

Hi all.

I know what it's like answering questions over and over that have already been asked and answered, so I tried searching and FAQ reading to no avail.

I first must say I love this site engine - for free no less! Let me say Thanks to the developers for allowing me to actually play the game I was dreading making a website for. I know how but, lord, what a pain to start from scratch and make a database-intregrated web system

Anyway, the thing I can't figure out is how to make HTML user ranks display properly in newBB. In the User Ranks Setting portion of System Admin it shows up perfectly, but under each user's name in posts on the forums it just shows the html. I'd love to have different colored ranks to differentiate those "special" members.

Here's the rank:
<font color=red><b>Mustache Mafia</b></font><br/>

Any ideas?

Thanks.
