Hi there,

I've given up on making a complete mirror copy of XOOPS 2.0.5 from my old server to the new one. I'm probably going to download XOOPS 2.0.13, upload that to my server, and then restore the data from there onwards. I have a few questions:

1. In XOOPS 2.0.13, can I still restore my database from XOOPS 2.0.5? I downloaded them, table by table, from phpMyAdmin, and I'm going to be using the Backup module (https://xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=2384 ) to restore them.
2. Are there any compatibility issues I need to be aware of otherwise?

Thanks!

Problem moving database

Situation: I'm moving sites and I want to take my whole XOOPS site along, members, news, forums and all that. Let's say from Host A to Host B. Now I can log into phpMyAdmin on Host A and download all databases and stuff like that, but I read this:

https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=193

When you export from PHPmyadmin check the following options in the export options: SQL, Add DROP TABLE, Add AUTO_INCREMENT, Enclose table and field names with backquotes, Use hexadecimal for binary fields, set the export type to INSERT, set the filename template to _DB_, and tick to export in "gzipped" format. Select the tables that you want to export (hold down the CTRL key while clicking multiple tables for export.)

Host A runs phpMyAdmin 2.5.0 and gives me these options...

Export: I choose SQL;
SQL options: Structure
* Add 'drop table' -- checked
* Enclose table and field names with backquotes -- checked
* Data -- checked
* Complete inserts
* Extended inserts
* Dump ... row(s) starting at record # -- I leave this unchanged
* Save as file... File name template, remember template -- I leave this unchanged
* Compression -- I select "gzipped"

OK. Problem 1: The Complete and Extended inserts are checkboxes and I was only told: "set the export type to INSERT". So I have left those unchecked on the first go (but the Data option was checked).

Exported from Host A; I now log into Host B's phpMyAdmin (they run v. 2.6.0-pl3). I click SQL and I upload my database (gzipped). I'm next shown a screen of impressive technical stuff, and was told the operation was successful. The database still goes, however: "No tables found in database". (For host B, the sidebar shows a list of NO databases; for host A, 64 databases.)

OK, I assumed this wasn't going to be a problem. Uploaded a 44 K large file, and then the browser did nothing... it attempted to upload the file, but ultimately nothing happened. A click on Structure (this is all in Host B) shows: No tables found in database.

My questions:
1. When exporting, should I check Complete inserts and Extended inserts?
2. Just why aren't my databases showing up on Host B?
3. This file is just about 44 K big -- the upload fails. I've no idea...

Thanks for any help!

Hi again,
On the same page it says:
Restore your SQL database
In the new site you will need to have access to your mySQL via the "PHPMyAdmin" application again.
Upload the database by opening the "Run SQL query" window. Select the "database backup" zip file and run the query. The database will be created on the new site.
Now you have to create the same MySQL database user as in the old site and give the correct access rights to the user.

I am confused about this: Now you have to create the same MySQL database user as in the old site and give the correct access rights to the user.
1. Is this user already in the users database (MySQL)? (assuming I exported it correctly)
2. If not, how do I go about creating this user? Is it as simple as signing up for a new account on the new site?

Thanks again for any help.

moving XOOPS data from one site to the other

hello,

(in reference to contents on:https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=150 )

a little question: I'm moving the contents of my site from one server to another, including all XOOPS data, MySQL database, etc.

There are a few questions:

1. As the linked page states: Note:Some modules safe certain cache files in a hidden or locked mode, so the FTP application either does not see the file or can not download it. Make sure you test your backup and restore procedure at least once so you do not get surprises when you restore a real backup. .

I have pretty much stuck to using only the modules a basic upload of XOOPS gave me. (News, forums, etc...) Are there any invisible or locked files to worry about? (This was back with XOOPS version 2.0.5, it was uploaded in November 2003.) I'm dragging the whole thing over by FTP (Fetch, Mac OS).

2. The new server has configured a different database name for me, and they say it cannot be changed. Suppose my current database name is database2, and they have set it up so that the new database name is database_db. Do I just need to make a quick fix to mainfile.php?

Thanks for any help.
