Well problem has been resolved. WAS NOT XOOPS RELATED...

..... YOU'RE GOOD!!! .....

I dont think it was anything I did. The problem 'fixed itself' - which I am thinking was caused by my hosting company/or server issue not runnning the php mail script correctly to certain domain names (??) My best guess. As of late today all email notifications seem to be going out correctly and none are coming back to me.

Thank you to everyone that offered help and suggestions.

(I know this doesent fit this thread.....but during my 'trouble shooting' I was thinking it might have been due to the XOOPS ugrade and the fact that I was/am using CBB 1.13 (version from admin module info) since it seemed that was where most of the failed email notifications were coming from.... I noticed that CBB is now v3.05.... and just wondering if I should go ahead and update to that version now.....even tho afterall, the problems were not due to the forum module) Sorry, i am thinking out loud now...

ANYWAY....... THANKS BENDER and EVERYONE that did offer the help!!

-- YES. All bounced messages are the same.

Note
- I tried your suggestion above. It did not send the email out appropriately. (I sent it to myself to test.) I waited to let email servers have a chance to send it ...just incase it wasnt 'instantly' sent...smile. BUT NOTHING.

- I used the XOOPS "Contact Us" = Worked...it sent the email out to the web admin and I recieved it.

- Watching the forums... I am assuming SOME people are getting email notifications as they are replying to current threads..ackkkkk....I am totally confused why this is happening now.

FYI:

XOOPS Version:
XOOPS 2.0.14

PHP Version:
5.0.4

MySQL Version:
4.1.19-standard-log

Server Software:
User's Browser:
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/418.8 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/419.3

Ok it seems these are the primary domains its having issues with when sending any emails with the following:

earthlink.net
sbcglobal.net
austin.rr.com
hillcountrytx.net

And it is always seems to be these same individuals only that i get the email failure notice.

Now without searching the entire user database and checking everyones emails... i am assuming that there are others with these domains (esp. the austin.rr.com as that is our primary cable provider) BUT I am not getting other bounce messages.??

And I have asked a few of these people if they have made any changes to their emails recently and none say they have... this only started happening after the upgrade to xoops.

I am at a loss.

2.0.14- Email notifications fail

After upgrading to current stable release of XOOPS 2.0.14....it seems email notifications from our website are now failing (strange tho...not all fail...seems to be domain related?)

Typically we have always used php mail but have tried other settings via the XOOPS admin ... but it does not seem to work.

I am getting bounced messages notifications (in my email box) from forum announcements and to general sitewide email notifications sent via our/xoops site.

example from a recent email:
(it is sent to the website admin email account that I get)

-----
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

'email name here'@earthlink.net <--deleted actual email name
unrouteable mail domain "earthlink.net"
-----
There is more of course...but thats the general idea... seems for some reason notifications to domain names dont go thru (but for example, as the web administrator i have an email with our own domain.com (rather than a yahoo/hotmail/or other service provider) - i do get the messages.... so some are going thru and some are not.

Any suggestions.

XOOPS 2.0.13.2

I know this should be a simple thing to do, but I cant seem to find it anywhere using the search forums....

I would like to add customized text for the redirect on when we have registration turned off.

Currently the redirect message is:
Sorry, we are currently closed for new user registrations
If the page does not automatically reload, please click here

Where do I look to change that message text? I would like to update it with just a bit more information as to why we have temporarily suspended new registration.

Thanks for your help...and I am probably gonna kick myself when I see the answer....but until then, appreciate all the help.

-Eric

(Yes, I will upgrade to current most version, but a bit apprehensive...need to go find all updated modules that I am using to see if they are compatible...smile..)

Not sure how to discribe this issue....

BASIC INFO FIRST-
XOOPS Version: 2.0.13
PHP Version: 5.0.4
MySQL Version: 4.0.25-standard-log
CBB Version 1.13

I have a Forum area set up for webmasters and administrators only...in other words...only viewable to these two groups. (Its only 4 indidviduals)

However, recently, whenever there is a posting in this area, the system is notifying 3 additional individuals that ARE NOT supposed to view this.

I have checked the GROUPS and made sure the correct users where in the right groups...thru the XOOPS admin panel and all seems to be correct.

I have checked the FORUM group permissions and seem to be correct.

I have logged in to phpAdmin and looked at xoop_users, xoops_groups, and xoops_groups_users and all seem to match accordingly (based on my limited understanding of MySQL)

My issue now is WHY these apparently particular 3 users are somehow getting notification emails sent of new postings.

Any suggestions?

I feel like an ass....lol

I trusted what my hosting company listed as the PHP version they were running. However I asked them directly to verify the current version on the server....

Guess what... their response was:

PHP Version 5.0.4 is installed.

So, lesson learned...always VERIFY!!

This IS a PHP5 issue as the developer for XoopsGallery is running a lower version of PHP with XOOPS 2.0.13 just fine. I believe he will look over the code when he gets a chance, and possibly update the code got the module.

Thanks to everyone.

Thanks Mithrandir.

Its wierd that all of a sudden that I am getting this error and no other modules have been effected (that I have found) after upgrading to XOOPS 2.0.13

And I just checked - we are using 4.3.11 of PHP...hmmm

Also...newbie...or sorta silly question - if i comment out those lines as suggested:

1. will it be a bad idea on my version of PHP

2. where are those lines found? (which file in xoopsgallery....or in every php file in the directory?)

Again, thanks for you help.

Fatal error: Cannot re-assign $this in /home/freedomr/public_html/modules/xoopsgallery/classes/Album.php on line 412

Any input on this? Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.....I hope I dont have to reinstall or create a new photo album.

(A little more: XoopsGallery allows a block that will generate random pictures...this block is working on my site. It is finding the photos and generating random photos to display in the block..however, if you click on the photo displayed...it goes to the blank screen as if you tried to access the photo album by a normal link and get the same error msg. as stated above.)
