news hack - multiple sites, background/template display

We publish news online and have three templates, one for each network (US, CA and UK) with 132 sites in all. Is there a hack for the news module to choose between page templates (the background images, header/footer, etc)?

The wysiwyg editor we use now (fckeditor) has a drop down menu so I can chose the network the story displays on, as well as drop down menu for the category of news. This is what I need the XOOPS news module to do.

Any hacks for this? If not, is there a work around somehow?

If this does not exist, I would gladly trade publicity (branding piece) for the help in creating a hack to add those fields to the news module.

We publish news online and are looking to switch to XOOPS for a CMS, but we have thousands of pages (php) that we need to import. Is there a hack for this? Or a module? I need to know ASAP as I have to switch servers by Feb. 5th.

Is there a hack for fckeditor (fields) for adding metatags: specifically, keywords and description. That would automatically fill a page's metatags in news?

IF so, I am very anxious to know! The SEO aspects of creating news pages for an online news publisher is vital to using xoops. I am thinking of moving to this CMS and need to be able to add keywords and descriptions for every news article we publish.

I just wanted to tell everyone that Xoops.org has been rated 3-stars in News Sticky, a site which offers free sticky content that a group of news publishers support/use/or recommend.

Inside it's directory, where there are only two rated sites, xoops.org was given a 3-star rating. One of News Sticky's sponsors used the CMS several years ago and thought it was tops. I just thought the community would want to know someone appreciated their work!

Also, I should point out that there is a custom news solution offered at News Sticky and that any sticky content rated on the site has been deemed safe to use.

Congrats on six years of support everyone!

security issue httpdse process running files called "nobody"

It appears that there is a vulnerability in our configuration. I believe someone got into our server via a bulletin board program (we deleted program). But control panel runs SLOOOOWWW. CPU usage very high. I found files via Cpanel, System Health, with oodles of processes running httpdse. Clicking on one, it was from "nobody". I found this post about another CMS, Joomla, that sounds like the same problen I have:

Thing is, how do I fix this in Xoops? Has anyone else had similar security leaks?

The problem turned out to be an auto-upgrade that took place on cpanel...

http://www.axcessnews.com was processing 700 msyql activities at once, causing the site to stay offline to viewers for two days until we installed a patch.

A big thank you to Herko though, for promptly posting a reply to my quiry.

That is my url. My host (burstnet) upgraded the kernal on my leased server today. At first, the message above is what I got, they said they fixed it by changing it (the name for the kernal) in my "temporary" folder.

But the problem has happened periodically throughout the day. Some times I can access the site, other times not.

If I ping it, it shows the connections are fine. But I first noticed that "stage/class/database,databasefactory.php line 34" part of the error message this last time.

Can anyone help me? The guy that was helping is from Russia (I am in the usa) and he has just dropped off the planet.. I have no one to help me and really need HELP!!

News Site with a Lotta Tweaks

Its been a struggle making this (well, I just pay for it) news site as I ask for a lot of tweaky things from my developer. AXcess News

But I wanted to know what more-involved XOOPS developers thought of it.

Been having probs with phpadsnew and blocks. Note the skyscraper on the right. Also, the XOOPS wysiwyg editor was inferior, installed a better one. And no, I don't recall its name.

Installed a non-xoops forum. Not set up yet though, waiting on header et al. Ditto on a link directory.

Search does not work - NEED a php program for that, any recommendations would be appreciated.

I publish news online, I would like to display links (automatically) to "related stories" within an vertical banner.

I know XOOPS offers a "most popular stories" module, but that won't cut it..

I publish news online, imported over 5,000 pages from my old site(s). Want to permit users to search those. I need a php program that will do that.

An option is google's search for adsense, but its search box is lame, too large and they push their logo on you, which takes up a lot of room. Don't want that. Prefer to install a program that will search my site (I can always add adsense to those pages).
