I have News 1.56 installed. The problem I'm having is that only one topics news items show up on the home page of News. I have 2 topics created with 7 test articles. Max of 10 is set up in preferences.

I've set permissions for registered users to see all articles in the 2 topics I've created. But only one topics articles ever display when I first go to the News module.

I did upgrade to News 1.56 from the one that comes with the Community pack d/l (I think it was 1.4). And the upgrade seemed to work fine.

Any ideas on why only one topic's articles are showing instead of what I think should be all 7?

To all,

What I really want to do for my site is this...

I want my anon/sign in page to use a certain module, say Smartsections. Then, after someone logs in, I want to have the News module as the page that shows.

Is this possible with config? If not, is it a hard hack? I'm new and haven't seen anything that says I can do this or not.

And if it can't be done, would someone consider adding this feature. I think it would be very much used by the community.

Figured it out. Thanks for your response.

Okay. Moved all the files into the folder. Went into module admin and selected the upgrade tab. Message said it was okay.

Then ran the upgrade.php program, but it said I didn't have permission to access this area. It still says version 1.4 in the module listing. If I click on the info icon however, it says it's version 1.56.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks John. That did help. However, what's your thoughts on something like the AMS module, where it says it's a direct replacement for the News module?

Sorry if you think you answered that.

I'm a new user. Got a site installed. Have news and AMS installed.

What determines which one, if not both, you should use? What is the difference between news and articles in the XOOPS world?

Does anyone have any help with this? Do I have to create the email myself notifying them that they have been approved?

When a user logs in now, they are presented with their your account type page.

I want the default page after login to be the news. And that's what I've set up in preferences.

Why is it continuing to start at the user account page?

I, as the admin, want to approve all user registration requests. Getting emailed when someone registers works fine to alert me.

What I don't see is a feature to automatically send an email back to the person who registered, after I approve them.

Am I missing it, or it is not there? Is the expectation that I create an email telling the user they are approved?
