Hello

I wonder if someone can help me out here.

I've made some changes and want to redirect all requests for old material to a new location.

I know I need to use PHP 301 requests and on some key content I have figured this out on a per article basis. However I am unable to figure out the newbb, news and mylinks forwarding.

Firstly if anyone knows which files forwarding requests would go into for these modules - then that would be a HUGE help.

Secondly I am willing (and maybe even prefer) to redirect all requests to a single page (perhaps with info as to why the redirct - doesn't really matter what page at the minute)

So this is what I'd like to do: Any request for any newbb forum, thread or post will be caught and moved to a new location. The same goes for the news index, news posts and archive, and the same goes for mylinks categories and weblinks oh and archive.

I appreciate that you can use .htaccess BUT this is not an option for me - my hosting company has disabled the use of .htaccess. And I don't want to move to another host - I've done that before and it wasn't an enjoyable experience.

To recap; can someone tell me how (which files to place the redirect in) to move all requests to a new location using PHP?

Here's to another year of XOOPS mods, themes, hacks, development & innovation.

Thanks to everyone that makes XOOPS what it is today.

Oh, ok, well thanks for pointing it out to me. I wonder if anyone else knows why it might be there?

I can just snip it out I guess, but is it there for a reason - does it stop certain types of security attack or anything useful like that?

I'll wait to see if anyone knows what is for, if not then I'll pull it out tomorrow and see what happens to the site

Thanks again

Dave

Hello all.

On my site I am having a problem with posts that contain the word about:anything

A poster just recently made a post and when I read it I noticed they had included a little message saying that there is no space in the command.

I checked other posts that also use this command (Command in question is the about:config to change firefox settings). All previous posts also have this problem.

I don't know if this is a XOOPS or theme problem can anyone tell me why this might be happening, and if there is a way I can clear it up?

Thanks

Dave

EDIT: the problem is not theme (I think) as my post here is also having the problem with displaying about:config without adding spaces. I guess its maybe a text sanitizer issue? can anyone tell me how to confirm and possible fix this.

Oh and the problem is not related to colons and something like hello:config does not seem to have the problem.

Thanks in advance.

not sure on the answer to the problem, but until someone gives you that answer why not just type:

yoursite.com/modules/newbb/admin/admin_cat_manager.php

That will take you to the correct place.

Ok, not entirely sure on this one, it has been a long time since I tried this module, and as it turns out I settled for something else instead.

However, I seem to recall that this is a template driven module (probably not the correct term) what I mean is that you need to edit templates to make changes, rather than making changes in some options or preferences section of module admin.

If you log in to the admin menu for your site, go to templates (make sure you have a custom template as you will be unable to make changes to the default templates) look for enterprise-x and look for a template which will probably be called enterprise_index_html or maybe just index_html you should be able to make changes to the menu in this file.

If this does not work then you are going to have to edit the html template which can be found in the following directory:
yoursite.com/modules/enterprise/templates
File will probably be called enterprise_index (Perhaps with _html at the end)

Well I hope that points you in the right direction.

oh, sorry, long day.

Sorry I have no personal experience with the module you are talking about.

This seems to be a really popular question.

It has had several answers.

One quite long and I think quite descriptive thread can be found HERE

Alternatively do a little search on something like News like on the XOOPS.ORG and you should find plenty of existing threads.

I will just say that from what I understand it is a combination of the spotlight module and some hack(s) but you should get more info from the above link.

Hope that points you in the right direction.
