I can definately say me and my staff WOULD NOT have used XOOPS if it were not for Simplehost. At Simplehost you have what is called "C Panel" (No Hablo Geek, amigos). In C Panel you have several options that will automatically install and create databases for Xoops, Php, Php Nuke, BlogSpot, et al. We did tried almost every option before we made or final choice (taking into consideration models, tutorials, and the availability of useful resources from the support websites). We chose XOOPS because of the easy editing to creat a basic website. That has helped us to become a bit more advanced in what we are doing with the site now... by starting out simple we have learned a bit of code and can alter modules, themes and display pages. So thanks xoops.org,

But back on track here... check out www.simplehost.com. They have a pretty kick ass set-up. I think we paid $120 for the year and we recieved UNLIMITED disk space, UNLIMITED email accounts, UNLIMITED databases. It is really a good deal. I would/could go into more detail but like I said previously; No Hablo Geek, amigos!

later,
Andy

We have been really happy with our xcGallery. We have found that there are not many limitations to what you can do with the xcGalleries. The display for thumbnails in each gallery look really clean. I had to edit a bit of the code for some of the "odd" features that came with the xcGallery... for starters, on the main page you usually see a block with "Random Pictures" in it. Why? This should not be set as default. I edited that out fairly easily inside the admitin panel so that only the "Last Uploads" is shown. Also, all the "beta" that is displayed when you open a picture (eg file size, picture dimensions, views, file name, et al.) is not needed. I found this a bit harder to edit out. I had to go into the code and delete most of this stuff. It would be in my humble opinion that for the updated xcGal all items that are displayed with the picture can be selected within the admitin menu (for easier editing).

On Blocks: We have been really happy with the xcGal's static block. Very nice and works with our layout well. However we have not had the same luck with the scrolling block. Sometimes it works with the layout, and the other half of the time it doesn't "fit" and stretches the page clear across the monitor. Obviously we are not currently running the static block due to its irregularities but would like to in the future if the block could be tweaked a bit.

Thanks xcGal,
Andy Lemon

I want to keep a couple of galleries from appearing on the front page in the static block. How do I make this happen?

Thanks,
Andy

Traffic and Content wise my site is lacking. However, we have only released our site 3 weeks ago and have used 200mb of space. I'm sure that number will be twice as large by the end of year.
