I am having the same problem. 10-15 messages a day. I have had to moderate it temporarily until I figure out how to stop it. My XFGuestbook 2.22 doesn't have a verification code option, do I need to upgrade? If so where do I go? Is this problem evident only in XFGuestbook?

Hope we can figure out how to keep these people at bay.

I don't know if you're using 2.2.x and if it is different there, but when I change templates in my 2.0.13.2 installation I go into the System Admin, click on Preferences and General Settings. There I change the value to yes on the item marked "Update module template .html files from your themes/your theme/templates directory?". The changes then take effect immediately. After I verify that the changes are correct, I revert the same option back to "no".

Re: The problem with xoops is the lack of support

I have been exactly where kalpax is and I understand the frustration. I have a different experience with the support community though; I feel like they have all been extremely helpful. That was before the release of version 2.2 and I have a feeling the community was a little bit more relaxed back then...

with that said, I have made a small observation (which may or may not be correct): I have a feeling there are many many more problems related to modules rather than the core cms itself.

What about a list of modules approved by XOOPS that follow the QA requirements set forth? I know this would require even more work for the moderators and support, but at least then users know what modules are proberly documented and what modules are released without much documentation and so proper support is hard to expect. That would also place an incentive on the module writers to properly document their modules, because if they don't, their module it not listed on the "supported modules list" so to speak.

I consider myself an experienced user of XOOPS by now, and although my schedule doesn't permit me to devote too much time back, I am more than willing to provide whatever help I can (document writing, etc.)

Database prefix and security

Question: Is there a way to change the table prefix (default xoops_) after the site has gone live? I'd like to change the prefix from its current value to something new but I don't know what it involves. I probably need to manually change the names of the tables to reflect this new prefix, but is there anything in the actual XOOPS code or config files that must be changed?

Thanks,

Missing Updates

Good afternoon,
I have a few questions; I have always upgraded my XOOPS site as the patches have come out, but now that I am running 2.0.13 I see that apparently some of my modules such as "news", "contacts", "xoopspartners", "xoopspoll", etc have not been updated. So my question is: is it safe to use the complete zip file of the 2.0.13 release, reupload those modules and do an update in the admin panel?

Also; when I upgraded from 2.0.10 to 2.0.13 I was missing a few files (when I turned on php debug I realized what files were missing) and I uploaded those and all works well, but to make sure I am not missing anything else before doing the big step and installing 2.2 once it's out, is it safe to just upload all the files in the 2.0.13 release and update the system module?

Thanks for any help,
Elev.

Actually, I just checked my 2.0.9.2 version that I backed up and xoopsclone() is not defined anywhere there. In what file is xoopsclone() defined in in version 2.0.10? Maybe I just need to upload that particular file?

Thanks,

Thank you for your reply. The link you presented apparently is only valid for older versions of XOOPS where the mentioned function was replaced by a similar one. Since I have updated, this shouldn't be a problem. Maybe there are some files I am missing? I uploaded all the files in the 2.0.10 upgrade package and Updated the Systems module, is there anything else I need to do perhaps?

Thanks,
Elev.

PHP error with Cloned Template - Please help!

Good evening,
I recently upgraded from XOOPS 2.0.9.2 to 2.0.10. Everything went fine, but when I went to my templates configuration under the System menu I found that one file was missing: system_block_dummy.html. So I clicked the Generate button to generate the file for the cloned template, but got a blank page. So I turned on PHP debugging and got the following message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: xoopsclone() in /htdocs/modules/system/admin/tplsets/main.php on line 1007

What am I doing wrong? How can I fix it?

Thank you for any help or pointers in the right direction.

Upgrade problems (2.0.9.2 to 2.0.10)

Good evening,
I have some problems updating... well the actual update went like a dream, but I am left with a few questions:

1. I have a custom template and when I view it after upgrading it is missing the file system_block_dummy.html and when I try to generate it, the screen goes blank and when I reload the template file is still missing. What am I doing wrong?

2. Do I ONLY need the upgrade the System module? I saw in the upgrade package that there are quite a few module updates, do I have to do the update from the module list for those as well?

Thanks for any help.

Thanks to everyone for their help. The reason I asked was because I wasn't sure if XOOPS does some pre-initialzation and stores some temporary data in the database BEFORE reaching the admin screen, but I realize now that's practically impossible since no host, username or password to the MySQL host is provided until you get to the admin screen for the first time.

Thanks again for all your help.
