Hi everyone,

I'm working on a theme where the submenus (of the main menu) should be shown as a top menu. Main main menu consists of 12 (heavily modified) mypage modules ( from XOOPS for dummies -- thanks for all the tips!). Each of the submenu entries links to other modules (i.e. mydownloads or articles) and specified categories/items in them.
I'd like to keep the "submenu" for as long as no other main category from the main menu is chosen. Playing a bit around, I found the $sublinks array which keeps (unfortunately) only the last submenu entry. Now I'm a bit lost on how to proceed. The sublinks array keeps only track of the currently chosen module.
Has anyone an idea how I could proceed? (How can I create my own global array (of arrays) within smarty that is always available?

Any kind of help or tis is very welcome!
(If needed I can post (or email) the source code or give further and more detailed explanations.

Thankx for your help in advance,

johnd0e

Japanese not working in IE when logged in

Hi everyone,

after returning from lunch, the XOOPS system I am currently building seems to be messed up.
After cheking the log files, I know(!) nobody else (or me) changed anything, but suddenly Japanese characters in the MainMenu und the UserMenu (as well as all other system modules) are not displayed correctly in IE. After checking the encoding, I tried Mozilla and it works.
Somehow the display in IE is totally messed up and I git no idea where to fix it or how it happend.
Rebuild the system module already, but it didn't help.

Now it is getting even stranger.
When not logged in, Japanese characters are displayed correctly. After logging in, they are not!!

Any help is greatly appreciated.

cheers,
johnd0e

Ok, found after some research a possibility to convert all data using the nkf (Network Kanji Filter).
This is not a *real* solution, but still (in case problems appear) at least it is a work-around...

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on a japanese website which is currently hosted on a Debian Linux (Woody) server, but will be moved to a Japanese Windows 2003 server within the next few months. A Japanese colleague just informed me that Windows 2003 would be using "Shift-JP" as internal character set, so when moving the site serious problems were due to appear.
Is that true? (haven't had the chance to test it out as of now, but will try as soon as I can get my hands on the Windows server.)
Has anyone of you had any experience with such a kind of problem?
Can anyone give me a hint where to read up on this problem (in English, since unfortunately I don't speak/read Japanese)?

Any information on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
johnd0e

After I got everything working (thanks to your tip) I encountered another problem which is a bit strange.
When adding an article / calendar even (or anything else) using Safari everything works fine, the article is correctly displayed in nearly every browser (Safari, Firefox, Mozilla (Mac/Linux), opera (Mac/Linux)), BUT NOT in M$ Internet Explorer 5.2.3 (Mac). If I use M$ IE on the other hand to post the article (or whatever), it is displayed correctly in IE, but not in the other browsers....

Any ideas/hints/comments/help would be greatly appreciated...

Cheers,

Hi everyone,

I'm currently a bit confused.. I've successfully setup the XOOPS system and all modules I need.. and now encountered a problem which i couldn't figure out in the last few hours..
If I set in "General Settings" (in System prefs) the site's language to English all articles in Japanese are displayed like a mess. If I switch the language to Japanese everything is displayed correctly again...
The meta tags (language, content) are (if I got it right) set by selecting the site's main language.
COuld anyone give me a hint on how to solve the problem (displaying the Japanese articles correctly even if the site's main language is set to English) ?

Any clues, hints, comments and of course will will be greatly appreciated...

Cheers,

johnd0e
