Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on a japanese website which is currently hosted on a Debian Linux (Woody) server, but will be moved to a Japanese Windows 2003 server within the next few months. A Japanese colleague just informed me that Windows 2003 would be using "Shift-JP" as internal character set, so when moving the site serious problems were due to appear.
Is that true? (haven't had the chance to test it out as of now, but will try as soon as I can get my hands on the Windows server.)
Has anyone of you had any experience with such a kind of problem?
Can anyone give me a hint where to read up on this problem (in English, since unfortunately I don't speak/read Japanese)?

Any information on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
johnd0e

Ok, found after some research a possibility to convert all data using the nkf (Network Kanji Filter).
This is not a *real* solution, but still (in case problems appear) at least it is a work-around...
