Ah. Thanks for the info. If I knew more PHP, I would offor to help... but I have real trouble understanding a language in which string concationation is done with a dot, where variables don't need to be declared, and a weakly-typed language to boot. (Can you tell I'm more used to C++ and Java?) At any rate, I do appriciate PHP, just too set in my own ways for the transition to be easy.

Thanks. That explains why I couldn't find it, I guess. Thanks for the help. Any plans to make them templated, or is that not planned?

What template do I modify to change how private messages are displayed? I want to put the sender's name above the message rather than to next to it. Seems simple enough, but I can't find the right template. Help is greatly appriciated. Thanks!

Good to know, then. Thanks for the info. It is by no means essential, just would be nice. At anyrate, I do appriciate all the hard work that has gone into XOOPS so far. To all the developers: thanks!

OK. You're chicken.

All joking aside, I agree that LDAP OOTB would be nice for XOOPS 2.1 or whatever version. Though I have no need for it on my current site, it is not hard for me to imagine myself in a situation in which it would become a nessesity. At any rate, maybe you could ask the guy who wrote this if he has any plans to renew development on the XOOPS LDAP module. Failing that, whining (in the best possible way, of course!) in the RFE forums might help.

Is it at all possible to add additional user fields (e. g., ph. number) to the XOOPS memberlist and profiles? My site is targeted at a group of people who are likely still dependant on telephones for a large degree of their interaction, thus, it makes sense for users to be able to (not be required to) publically list their ph. numbers. Any advice on how to actually do this? Thanks.

If you could tell XOOPS to use another source for userauths than the XOOPS DB, then you could connect both XOOPS and jabberd to the same LDAP server, and hack the XOOPS register link to create LDAP accounts, as well as hack jabberd to do the same.

Parts of this seem dated (not most ubergeeks are still stuck on modems...), but others like 30 and 31 are just classic... timeless, even.

Ah. Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that one had to first submit a blog for userlevels to take effect. One more question, then. If one is already registered with the WordPress module, do changes in userlevel/usergroup associations take effect, or does the admin have to manually change their level?
