Crud! I didn't even answer your question, did I. *lol*

I'm planning to use forums, reviews, and a directory primarily. It's a restaurant, bar, club et al type site for the Chicago suburbs....believe it or not, there isn't one yet!

Yeah, it's not so much that there AREN'T any themes, it's just that none of them are quite what I want.

Picky picky picky...! ;^)

What I would really like to do is find a really good theme person to kind of work with me long term. Get the colors right first, and a logo, then make things a little more customzied as things go forward. Nobody wants to pay out a ton of money up front, but I'm willing to pay a lot more over the long term for help.

I'm not like some of the other newbs here (not naming any names), in that I DO understand all the basic concepts and how the systems work, I'm just not a graphics guy. Not good at it, not something I really enjoy doing, but it's important to a great, long-lasting site. I'd rather spend my time on the content and other issues.

So, I'm still looking for that person.

I came with the exact same question here, and I had already created a block for a welcome message. However, it doesn't show up till I log in. What have I missed here?

...still learning my way around...

Mithrandir,

I appreciate your offer to help. I haven't really found a TM template I liked much, and the response I've gotten from asking a few people directly has been, shall we say, underwhelming.

I'm not giving up the ghost quite yet...we'll see what else I can do...anyone else out there able to help???

Bob

Same here. If you need a beta tester...!

My biggest problem with CJ-Reviews right now is two fold...i can't get any changes I make to be saved (must be a permissions problem)...and I can't uninstall it!!! *sigh*

I liked that guy who pointed out the Disney review site...that would be da bomb.

Ok...I'm leaving now.

Greetings everyone!

I need a theme done for a food and entertainment XOOPS site in the Chicago area. How's THAT for specific???

I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount, or possibly do a trade for web hosting services or anything else I can think of.

I need this relatively quickly...not tomorrow or anything, but sometime in the next 2 weeks.

Thanks in advance!

Richard,

Thanks for the welcome!

Yeah...after looking around a little more, I found a few modules to take a look at. What we will be reviewing is restaurants, wineries, and other similar venues. There may be the occasional movie review, but I'm not sure. Categories, images, and comments would all be nice. I'd like to have a way for other people to pile onto a review to create an aggregate total for the esablishent that we are looking at.

The NUKE module in question has a 1-5 star rating, and the nicest feature is that when you go to the main reviews page, it lists the top ten reviews and the ten most recent reviews right at the top of the page. I'll see if I can grab a link for you to see.

I wound up choosing XOOPS because it seems that it's a little more secure, and FAR easier to configure thus far. The only thing keeping me looking at postnuke was that reviews module. *lol*

So...there ya go.

Thanks again!
Bo3b

Greetings everyone!

Yes yes...another newbie post here. But I must say, a lot of great information on here for people to use! Thanks to all who are contributing to help us new guys out.

I wanted to find out if anyone knows if there is a reviews module anywhere, similar to the one available in PostNUKE? I browsed through the ones listed, but didn't see one...might have missed it though.

Thanks in advance!
Bo3b
