I don't use custom templates. Only the original ones comming with xoops. I'm not shure but I suppose it'a from the sql query or somthing in the notifications mechanism itself.

I've just updated XOOPS to 2.0.10 and still have the same problem. Then I made fresh new instalation and newbb2 and notifications work just fine... Any ideas? XOOPS 2.0.10 rewrites notification.php but still noting changes...

I have same problem with NEWBB2 but neither mail nor PM notification works.
I use:
newbb 2.0.2
XOOPS 2.0.9.2
PHP 4.3.6
MySQL 4.0.20
Microsoft-IIS/5.1

Did you set both the NEW THEME and ITS TEMPLATE as defaults in the system admin->preferences->general settings->
Default theme=Theme_blaaa
Default template set=Theme_blaa_template

Adminstration menu ->System Adminn ->blocks ->Show blocks visible in=TOP PAGE ; Group ANONYMOUS USERS and then choose whatever you like to be visible for the anonnymous users.

There is one Super Karamba's theme called liquid_weather_plus that uses weather.com. I find it verry good and usefull. A lot of nice icons are available, too. But it is all pythonised... So if somebody feels good on python and is willing to rewrite it in php...

Or is there any python2php convertor :)))!

Unfortunately I'm not so familiar with python but it doesn't seem to be a big conceptual difference in these script languages...
