When you say download the site to my machine, do you mean as in download by FTP? Then would I need to install XOOPS on the new host and over write the files.

And let me add this information. The reason that I am moving the site is because I can't figure out how to access the database. I have not been able to get any help from godaddy.

Download your site via FTP, downloads exact copy of your site, then you reupload that copy to your new hosts, all your settings etc etc are stored in the database.

You will have to get a module then to get a backup there are plenty in the Module Repository. Also you will need to modify mainfile.php to make the changes effective :)

Also give this a read about backing up your DB.

Last i moved my site, I...

1) Disabled access to my site IE Password protected my root DIR that way no content could change and no users could register.

2) Download your site to your machine etc etc.

3) Make a Full database backup.

4) Reverse the process on the new host.

I now own a copy of Zend Gaurd, so if anyone would like me to encode your mainfile.php let me know :)

You must have Zend Optimizer installed and running on your server aswell :)

I have tried to clone WF-Downloads following the instructions in the FAQ section on how to clone a module and have had no luck.

I am under the gun and need to install another WF-Downloads this week. Does anyone have any version already cloned that I can download? If not, can someone clone one and make it available by chance?

If you want to email it to me directly, feel free to at larryluv AT gmail DOT com

Thanks In Advance for the help!

I have moved the contents of mainfile.php to a folder outside of webserver access and just had mainfile.php include that document... Probably not the best solution but it works.

Try to update the news module and delete the contents of your templates_c folder, if that doesnt work try to get the latest version of the news module. I believe they are @ v1.55 .

Update your news module, then delete the contents of the templates_c folder.
