What my site has done is we use PHPBTTracker, remove the css so it uses the theme we have in place, and then wrote a simple php document that includes the upload form and stats into one table and then created a wrap using the tinycontent module, so we now have a Tracker link in the menu and the tracker shows up inside the site. To download torrents, we use the main download module, in which members upload their torrent file, create a description and screencap, which indexes them all nicely, and allows the person to then easily begin to seed.

I fixed this once by hard coding the path to my file folder into all the files I found that contained the code for that field (submit.php and a couple others I can't remember right now). This way when I went to add a download, it would already be filled withhttp://www.site.com/modules/mydownloads/files/etc and I would just have to type the filename.

I did ask in the group permission my downloads thread for an option to be added in the config to set a default path relative to the XOOPS root or the module's root, so we will just have to see if he can do it for us :)

I actually have the same thing happen sometimes (blank page), but it does not affect the download actually getting submitted. The fact that your error is returning a local path is a bit odd....did you open the file in an editor and then it messed up all the paths?

you may want to try uninstalling the module by deactivating it, then uninstalling it, then deleting it off your server, then verifying the tables are no longer in your database (if there was info you wanted to keep, you will want to export the tables first to a text file so you can readd them later) and then download a fresh copy of the module, make any config changes carefully in a text editor like ultraedit, not an html editor, and then upload it, chmod it where it needs it, and then install it again. Make sure if you are using the default mydownloads that you use the same version as your core.

I'm not a super expert by any means but this is usually the strange logic I use to fix problems with my site and it works. There should not be a local path in that error message unless you are trying to test XOOPS on a local workstation in which case...well...anything odd can happen there... you could also try the group access controlled download module which you can find in this thread:

I know the broken version of Xgallery does this :P
as for coppermine, the only way I know of is to modify the 'thumbnail' size, but that will mess up your meta albums. you could also modify the block code to grab the intermediate or full size image instead of the thumbnail.

what is the easiest way to transfer over the download catalog from the normal mydownloads to this version? i cringe at the thought of entering all those records again.( otherwise is it possible to set the default URL path so that it doesn't have to be typed over and over again when pointing to a file on your server? (example i would rather just type the subdir and the file, such as /Video/tvshow1.mpg)

This is really awesome work, thank you for doing it!

you may have to modify your sql database or reinstall some modules. When we changed our site, the linking broke in a few of the modules we were using until I reinstalled them or found the value in php myadmin where it had taken the IP in order to append it to some of the directories specified in the cofig. Its an error by some module developers, but its not too horrible a thing to fix. (so if you develop a module use the right variables!!)

I don't have a precise fix for your problem, but I can tell you that this kind of stuff started happening to us before we launched as well. XOOPS is a fragile dear, if you work on it too hard it feels abused :) my only advice is to get in the habit of exporting your database in between every major change, so that if something you do breaks anything, you can go back in and reload the module, then reload the dbtables. What you are describing sounds more like a data problem than a server configuration issue, since it worked before and then quit working.

Every other file type we offer can be viewed/ downloaded except MPG, which return a 404. This is not a filename/path issue, it is specific to every single file with an mpg extension. Why is this? Can it be fixed?

when you are in the group configuration area in the admin panel, you will see checkboxes for all of the installed module. ideally you want to have your entire site setup and configured how you want it to be for public use and have all the module you decide to use installed. from there, you need to determine what you want each group to have access to (write it out is easy). In the properties for each group, check the boxes that correspond to the blocks you want group to have access to, and the module you want them to access. Forget about how the groups relate to one another, because they don't. For example (i will use my site as a relational factor):

Registered users only have access to very basic things like faq, partners, news, forum, and links, and no special blocks.
Basic members have access to all that plus the gallery, sections, and freecontent module, and can see 'top' blocks.
premeire members have access to all of the above plus downloads, module A and module B and all blocks other than those reserve for admins such as waiting content etc.

In addition to that, some modules allow you to control rights to subsections within them, such as Xgallery, wsproject, and so on, so you would set access control separately there if needed.

I hope this make sense to you. My english is not #1 so I have articulated to the peak of my ability.
