Most likely your account is in two groups that have admin rights to the modules you are seeing twice.

Thus if the account Joel was in the webmasters group and the "news moderators" group (a custom group you created for example), and both groups had amin rights to the news module, news shows up twice.

Check groups/permissions for the account you are seeing that behavior on.

HTH.

Looks good to me. The site is slow, but that is most likely due to the fact that I am on the other side of the world.

Good work!

Were you working on this site when it happened? Anything change?

I had a similar thing happen when I had a typo in my theme.html that prevented the left blocks loop from displaying.

OK, it has come time to move again. My site is crawling again. I think what happens with these hosting companies is they put you on as a new account. So you are on "the newest server", which isn't full so performance is good. Then as the server fills up to (over)capacity, your performance goes down. That is my theory anyway.

So, anybody have any more recommendations? I am currently looking at two already mentioned in this thread:
1. iPowerweb, which hosts another site for me. Haven't had any problems but that site is just a "marketing site" and doesn't get any hits.
2. Pair.com, which was recommended to me by a friend as well as in this thread. The only thing stopping me is price, as last I looked, pair was indeed about double the price of most other hosts.

Thanks again.

That doesn't necessarily mean it is an error with the code in that file, per se. XOOPS throws that type of error whenever it can not connect to the database. Did mainfile.php change at all? That is the file that contains the connection settings to the DB.

You need to ask yahoo this question as different hosting providers use different locations. A typical one would be /home/account_name/public_html

but as I said, it varies and I am unfamiliar with what Yahoo uses.

I don't use the module, but you could make index.htm in your root directory a redirect to the page in the module you wish as a workaround. so whenever people go to www.yoursite.com they get redirected to www.yoursite.com/modules/cjay/file3.php or however that module identifies its files.

Thank you everyone. See what happens when I don't come around enough...I turn into a n00b.

I updated the wiki too, as the include directory was missing before include/common.php.

Thank you again.

2.0.5 and Auto-Login

First, thanks for XOOPS 2.0.5 - I upgraded from 2.0.3 without any issues at all. Very nice work guys.

In my 2.0.3 installation, I had implemented the auto-login hack, which has been lost (due to new core files, I understand the issue and know it isn't a bug).

My question is can I reimplement the auto-login hack by re-altering the files in 2.0.5 or will this cause issues? Is anybody using an auto-login hack with 2.0.5 successfully? (I was using the one provided by AndreRa).

phpwebhosting is who i went with. unfortunately, they are not doing so well either. it is fast, but the site goes down daily. Like now. Your second site in your signature is down too.

Are all shared hosts like this? My only previous experience is hosting my own with various companies and colo services, but neither is an option due to $.

Any reliable providers out there or do I have to decide whether to bite the bullet and pay drastically more $$$.
