Everyone is welcome to help. If Hervé wants to help this project move forward, he is quite welcome to.

Personally, I applaud every person that has stepped up to take on a position in moving forward. Given all things considered, doing this takes a great deal of courage and commitment to this project.

Thank you Julian! I too was hoping to see your name among the list to step up.

My suggestion is that this "team" should :
1/ not be headed by a single developer (or person) but by a commitee
2/ The team should be more opened to truly new people like mboyden

These are very positive suggestions.

IMHO, an Open Source Team is a Team of peers. Each member of the team should have equal say.

I too think we need some new blood adding a new perspective to Core Development. If we are truly going to move XOOPS forward into being a CMS for the 21st century, new, fresh ideas are needed.

I would sincerely hope that this isn't a game to anyone here and I definitely think we need some *new* blood joining the ranks of the experienced few.

But, I'm not a dev, so I'll leave it to the Dev's to hash out.

I'm just glad to see communication again!

I will not like to be in DJ's position, can he refuse any offer who received "votes" ??
Isn't it a way to force him ...
Is it objective ?

As a non-developer myself, I can recognize clean code, that works, but I do not know enough PHP to determine if an application is written optimally.

That being said, I would hope that that final say of who gets to write code for the core is put to the acid test of peer review and therefore is objective.

Popularity contests are for beauty pageants. Personally, I want the best of the best writing the code. I think we can all agree on that.

edit: I have no say in how the core devs will be picked other than my vote, so I will not comment on that point.

I can only comment on the work of those who I have worked with. Those who I have not worked with, I will not comment on. So, if you are referring to any of my posts commending a choice for a position, it is because I am familiar with their work and am glad to see them step up to the plate.

I am not familiar with mboyden's work; therefore, I have no comment other than, "Thank you for stepping up!"

Positive change is happening publicly here, not behind closed doors. Please join us in welcoming positive change.

We can move forward, but we need to let go of the past and only take with us the knowledge of the lessons learned.
