Hi Mithrandir,

There seems to be no way of deleting (or unsetting) the expiration date from the Admin interface. I usually set expiration dates for articles so that I can review them 6 months later. If they are still applicable, I want to unset the expiration. If not, I delete the article.

Right now, I go into phpMyAdmin and change the 'expired' column to zero. It was easy at first with a few articles, but as articles were added, it can get tedious to shift tabs from XOOPS admin then to phpMyAdmin.

Would this be available in the next News Module?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if these links will help, but they're worth a try:

Custom blocks
Custom Block display
Custom php in a block

Try repairing your xoops_bb tables from phpMyAdmin. It might not work with the Operations Tab, so you'd have to do it with an SQL Query.

This link might help you:

I'm not sure if this will help, but there is a minimum no. of posts before a user can upload an avatar.

Go to Sys Admin -> Preferences -> User Info. See if the "Allow custom avatar upload?" is set to "Yes". And then go to the next line, "Minimum posts required", and input a reasonable number. For my site, I set it to 10 posts.

Then check to see if you can upload an avatar. Even Webmasters are not exempt to this. Lower the number first if you want to put your avatar, and then raise it back to whatever you want for the other users.

Clone the default template set first in Sys Admin -> Templates. It is advisable to name your clone after the theme it will be used with. Generate the template HTML files once clone is available.

Then go to the page above and set the new template set as the default template set (see last row in picture above).

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's the best, but I like TopStyle Lite.

The way news expiration works is just to 'delete' it from the pages of the news module, i.e. you cannot read it by browsing the news. It would, however, be available in the archives, by direct links, and by site searches.

If you want to totally delete it, from News and database, you have to do that from the admin.

Hope this helps!

Try browsing it with at least IE 5.5, but better with IE 6. Try also other browsers like Mozilla. This would help isolate the problem to the theme, i.e. the theme might not be compatible with older browsers.

There is no 'automatic' way of doing that. There is no block you can use to display the Link Categories. What you need to do is to create a custom block and have it displayed on top of your forum (a.k.a. NewBB module). This would display the custom block on all pages of the forum.

For the pages to display only in the Forum index page, you might need to edit the newbb_index.html file in your template set and 'hard code' those link categories into the file.

Please do experiment with the admin functions and search the forums, especially about custom blocks and editing templates.

Thanks!
