Yes, it is sad that there's no communication. But people complaining about not being informed does tend to put the developers off. It doesn't add to their motivation to do all that work for everyone. And when that happens, they will do what they want to do, and that might or might not be develop code in silence.

I'm not complaining, just showing my interest in the people behind the core project.
I'm not asking for someone to defend himself, just asking :"How are you doing?"

Thank you for explaining the 'alpha' thing to me, I'm of no use here, 'cause I have no clue of the working of the core.

I think it's about time for the XOOPS community to get an update on the development of the next version of Xoops, whatever that may be called at this point - 2.3, 2.4, 3.0 or 4.0. . . whether it is ever to be released and whether development continues or not.

It's been over 1 year since 2.3 alpha was released with many promises of official versions shortly thereafter . . . and then there was nothing. I see in the SVN that the last 2.3 update was 3 months ago by Skalpa.

http://xoops.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/xoops/XoopsCore/trunk/?sortdir=down

What happened over the last year at Xoops? Why no communication? It seems like XOOPS is dying a slow and painful death.

The link is death, so I think you're right.
I've seen this kind of topic often and it leads to nothing, no answer, no communication, just diversion from the beginning point and that's sad.
A brief explanation of what's really going on would be sufficient.
I myself missed the 'testing of the alpha' but always willing to do something in return, so where would I find this alpha version?

As far as I know koivi editor has no problem with embedding :http://www.alohaspirit.nl/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=2443&forum=12

I don't know exactly what you want, but you could also (maybe) use a module that's made for this, I'm testing xmovie at the moment :http://www.amevita.eu/modules/x_movie/

Or a specific module like xstreamer that is suitable for flv files.http://www.amevita.eu/modules/xstreamer/

I'm with servage.net for a few months now, so I can't recommend it yet (had some downtime and unresolved issues with my dedicated ip)The service is good though and a huge amount of space bandwidth and so on, friendly service.

What I can recommend is onsmart.com (rainbowshaman.com)
I've been with them for years now, practically no downtime, 24/7 life chat service with friendly professional help. As far as I know they have a good security.

Succes.

Yes my startpage is the smartpartner module.

And it's a virtual environment, servage works with virtual hosts.

When I look at my dns settings through the control panel I see :

@.amevita.eu A-record 82.140.42.33
*.amevita.eu A-record 77.232.70.123

Should I set the first record also to 77.232.70.123 then?

The site of a friend of me is hacked by placing an index.html file in the root.
Because html has a higher priority then php, visitors see this hacked html file in stead of the index.php
I suggested him to replace this hacked html file by his own html file with in it a direction to index.php

Do you have other suggestions?

Thanks for your answers.

I tried some more things, for instance choose the nameservers of opendns.com to be the nameservers for windows and my router, but no succes.

My isp has no ban on my own ip number, bu the cause is probably the caching of the nameservers of servage.
It could take up to one week before this cache is refreshed.
So I will wait a few days more to be absolute sure.

When I use the dedicated IP number, it's the same result.

The connection between IP and name is correct, that I can see with nslookup.

I've opened a ticket for this problem two days ago (servage.net is my host), and they can't find anything on their side.

My isp is dutch (versatel), do you think they could block me for just this site? Because otherwise I've no problem accessing sites on the internet.

When I 'do' a tracert from my home to amevita.eu, I get this result.

Hi, I don't even know if this is XOOPS related.
I'm building a portal site onhttp://www.amevita.eu
After I switched from shared ip to dedicated ip I can't get on my site anymore.

The only way to get on my site is when I do it through a proxy server like hidemyass.com

Others have no problem getting to my site.

I tried several things, switch off firewall, switched of virusscanner, tried on different computers, cleared cache of browsers, cleared dns cache (ipconfig /flusdns), put my site in the 'hosts' file of the computer, but no result.
When I use tracert I get to my host but then it's only timeout.

I have no ip blocking set on my XOOPS (2.016) and protector not yet installed.

Has anyone ever encountered this wierd problem?
