Edwinspie,

How to install Kiovi:

1) Download and unzip Kiovi (XK Editor)

2) Copy the folder wysiwyg to XOOPS "class" directory (NOT to class/xoopseditor, NOT!)

3) Copy the system_imagemanager.html to modules/system/templates to replace the existing.

4) GO TO your XOOPS "templates_c" and DELETE ALL INSIDE THIS FOLDER EXCEPT "index.html".

Now activate kiovi for some module that uses it, like SmartSection, for example, and use it!

If you don't do step 4 you will have several problems to install or run any editor. Read the thread where some people helped me:

Hello

I installed again XK Editor, deleted all in templates_c directory except index.html and it now works OK !!!!!!

Thanks to you all for your help.

Now I will try to install tinyeditor 1.0 too to compare.

The only flaw is that now, in image manager, see the 3 buttons used by Xoopseditor, and below, the "insert image" button of XK editor. Is there a way to hide the 3 buttons of Xoopseditor when it's not used, and show them only if Xoopseditor is in use?

Thanks again.
If I could help you in anything, just ask.

svaha,

I saw in a faq that templates_c is a cache directory, but it says it is good to clear all files except some "index files".
Must I delete all, or leave some file? What is that index file and how to recognize it?

Thanks.

Thank McDonnald and svaha.

McDonnald, I am just now downloading the new tinyeditor to test. Thanks.

I really liked the appereance of XK Editor, anyway. The only flaw was that problem with imagemanager.

svaha, I am a bit confused.
Why did you delete templates_c directory? Is good to do that? What are templates_c directory used for?
If I do that, will kiovi work ok?
Please explain.

Hello.

I was testing some advanced editors for my Xoops, and I specially wanted XK_Editor, because it has tables and alignent of text easilly placed by a button.

I placed the files in the class folder, and replaced the imagemanager file as explained in its docs. I suppose I am missing something, because when I clic on the image manager button ( wich seems to be the same button as in XoopsEditor, has the same icon), it opens, I select the image, BUT IT IS NOT INSTERTED. Something fails.

I am near to give up trying to make it work. Do you have any idea of what I have done wrong?

If not, I will continue using the standard XOOPS Editor, BUT...
Do you know some way to use tables and text alignment (left, center, right) in XoopsEditor? These are the only features I need.
How to get them?

Thanks.

Hello all!

I am just a beginner in Linux and XOOPS but I have found the solution.

Is related with the file permission of the IMAGE, not the directory. At least, it worked for me.

I was wondering why so many people have this problem.
The fact is that when you save a picture to a cd for example, its access is changed to read only, but in some linux systems it is recorded as if it has no permission, it seems.

I looked at the file permissions (in my Xubuntu linux) and I see that the file had no permissions at all, even to read.

The solution is to change its permissions to read and write for all, graphically thru the GUI (in my case, thunar) or with chmod 777. Remember, we act over the image file of the avatar.

After this, I was able to upload it.

If you don't have control over this like me, maybe you can upload people files to another dir with some module or the image manager, or ask people to send you the avatars, and then chmod them, and upload.

Please test if this works for you all, and if it does, SPREAD this trick so everyone fixes this. This is a common problem I saw all people have in all XOOPS forums, in all languages.

So long,
Jordi

Thanks Bender for that info. Now I am sure that I did all well, knowing it was a bug.
