In order for the email notification feature to work, one must allow email from the site in their profile. I did not think mine was working until I checked my profile and reset it. But I am running 2.2.3 and it works.

I have been trying PHP Designer. Now granted I only dabble in PHP, but it seems to be pretty solid. I like the interface anyway. And it is free, which is perhaps the best thing of all.

I have userpage, and enjoy it a great deal. But what I was thinking of was something more like clubs folks can join with a mini-board of their own. It would be a complex module I think, but probably doable.

I have to turn off my firewall every time I test Xoops. It is a pain, but it is the only way I can run XOOPS locally.

I don't know if this would help but you might like to read:

I am not sure it would affect spiders. Some content will not show up on search engines. But I would think they could still spider portions of it. What I do myself to encourage registration is restrict access to forums, downloads, and such. It seems to work. I leave enough access to encourage folks to surf, but keep the special stuff for registered users.

I hope someone picks this one up. My wishlist right now is:

An Instant Messenger module (a lot like the one used by Ancient Worlds website)
Greeting Cards
Personal Friends List

Users:Groups in the admin area. Modify Anonymous to have access to nothing.

You can use XOOPS for that. Make sure you have Extended Profiles and User Page. Extended Profiles will make sure that folks can put in as much info on themselves as they want. Second, install User Page by Hervet. You can download it at:
http://www.herve-thouzard.com/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?cid=6&lid=145

I understand Hervet is about to come out with a new version soon. Other modules that may come in helpful are Friend Finder, and something like PHP121 (not sure it exists yet). There is a friends list module also in development, and you will want to pick that up also.

I am considering setting up my own MySpace type site as it occurs to me one could take MySpace on with a good enough setup (set a site up like the old Geocities with websites for folks but add the stuff MySpace has)
