I didn't know that as I have admin access to the repository. If you have any modules to update before submissions are re-opened, you can always send me a pm and we can get it arranged.
I think if an author is no longer developing a module, there should be no reason why somebody can't take it on, to either release a bug fix version or to continue development.
Since Jan was responsible for dev.xoops.org and is no longer officially working on XOOPS I'm not sure who would be the contact person to change ownership of the project, but this should be looked into for sure.
From previous discussions it seems to depend on the server setup at to whether it's better to use http:// orhttp://www. but with most servers it's best to usehttp://www.
as gufy_ said, you can customise the template how ever you want, but it's inportant to have them cause it's the only way to know if your action was successful or not.
