... as a job-seeking dba with interest in Business Intelligence I have a great interest in freely available and well documented opensource software. So it is not surprising that I stumble across Eclipse ide more often.

example Eclipse BIRT project:
Eclipse BIRT project
Search anyfinder for eclipse "BIRT Project" actuate

my last stumble across eclipse in context with sap:
SAP NetWeaver - WAS 6.40 testdrive for linux on maxdb
WAS testdrive for Linux - "insights"

Looking from a php-point-of-view, the eclipse php-plugin should be more interseting:
PHPEclipse

So if anybody has an idea where eclipse development could be interesting for XOOPS then please make a comment. Also I'd be glad to find people interested in XOOPS and Eclipse.

... I still like this Asus ncch-dl "dual Xeon-board" and think of buying a couple of them

"dual Xeon-board" reference (euros):

Gehäuse Antec 160p (120,-)
Netzteil Antec Antec True Power 550W (120,-)
Asus ncch-dl "dual Xeon-board" (230,-)
dual Xeon 3.0 ghz (2 * 270,-)
512 mb pc400 (4 * 50,-)
Hitachi 250 gb sata (125,-)

So if anyone wants a real cheap ncch-dl (around 125,-) please contact me at webmaster@funkpause.de and we can try to get more for less. For anybody interested: a complete "dual Xeon-board" costs around 1300,- if you buy parts at different distributors like mindfactory (anybody knows a good distributor for ncch-dl, 3.0 ghz Xeon, Antec ...?).

greetings asche

PS: The Dell PowerEdge SC1420 Server (mentioned in first posting) is a very good offer as well, but it has maindboard with different socket (e7525?) and needs expensive ddr2 memory.

thanks for the info concerning running both os (running Linux "on top" is really great, because I can not do without my windoze (all those little apps like bc compare or dtsearch desktop -> they dont run on Linux? ->I'll be back with questions).

info to "dual xeon"
there is a phantastic price-drop at for dual xeon at Dell
http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=04&kc=6W300&l=en&oc=sc1420sapp&s=bsd
"dual xeon" 2.8 ghz: 800 $ -> 500 $ (this is us bucks, the rest is in euro)
Save $300 on select PowerEdge SC1420 servers through the Small Business division.
http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/DiscountDetails.aspx?c=us&cs=04&kc=6W300&l=en&oc=sc1420sapp&s=bsd
Dell Germany now 450 euro
http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/pedge_sc1420?c=de&cs=debsdt1&l=de&s=bsd&~tab=specstab#tabtop

Dell not only follows price drop for xeon processor by 30% (now 325 euro for 3.2 ghz, but sells the whole workstation for 30% off. If you upgrade at Dell to 3.2 ghz you pay around 800 euro total for "dual Xeon - personal workstation" -> thats 650 for 2 processors + 150 for mainboard -> the rest is for free?).

I dont believe it myself. I am going to by this dell thing and throw out the mobo, built in ncch-dl mobo (because of 875p chipset) with cheap ddr (4 * 512mb ddr400 = 220 euro) and I am offfffffffffff ......

yesterday I blew up a Samsung SpinPoint SP1614N hdd (fast and quite, but I ruined it - mit einer Wäscheklamer als Abstandshalter). I bought a Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 SATA - 160GB, but I can not install on this hdd even my mobo should support SATA.

So now I have this sata hdd and decided to build a more stable "personal workstation" around it and ended up:

"personal workstation":
Dual Xeon
3,2 ghz (prices dropped by 30%)
ncch-dl (mobo)
2 Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 SATA - 160GB

Questions:
is the 3,2 ghz dual Xeon a good choice?
what tower case (sorry, I mean the Gehäuse).
cooling (must be quiet -> dont laugh, I will use this "personal workstation" as my 10 hours-a-day pc)?
any adapters I need?
and else .... will be back with more questions and infos I found

The purpose of the "personal workstation" is to build a really fast and stable personal pc, where I can install eclipse on a oracle db and checkout "online database" related stuff like oscommerce, b.i.r.t, olap, webmining ...
The "personal workstation" should be very fast and support multitasking (like 20 open windows and 12 oracle services, also backup system -> which raid?).

You think I can continue with my TSW WAMP or must I install a serious os for my purpose and switch to Linux (which distribution -> is Suse a good choice -> by the way, is XOOPS still the no1-choice-cms of novell?)?????????????

Can anybody comment on my little "dual xenon" project and give me tips and tricks howto?

best regards

asche

pulldown-menue linked with "document-tree"/"sitemap"

pulldown-menue combined with "sitemap"

example:
http://deutsche-boerse.com/dbag/dispatch/de/kir/gdb_navigation/technology/30_Access_Products/10_Xentric/85_Xentric_Warehouse

The place of the webside in the "document tree" is always shown and is interconnected with the pull-down menue.

... sorry, you know what I mean with "document tree"
example on above page:
Home > Technology Services > Access Products > Xentric > Xentric Warehouse
... this clickable "sort of sitemap" is on every page, so i can "walk through this website" by navigating through all levels of the "document tree".

Is it possible to do something similar with XOOPS?
Or is the menue independent from XOOPS-system and it is a matter of integrating dhtml or javascript ....?

If somebody knows a similar menue on a XOOPS-site, I am glad for hints.

hi ajaxbr,

thanks for your info, increased maxchars and now it is fine.

I have a new qestion concerning max_size, maybe you know?
I couldnot reimport my database with sql script, because the sql-window is restricted to (Max: 51,200KB).

Are there any database tools which can import much bigger db (funny thing I want to replace a domainname in all of the tables and then reimport).

greetings to the sunny south

'No Input File Specified' Error when calling "host-phpmyadmin"

After switching from win 2000 to win xp it is not possible to work with phpmyadmin. I receive error 'No Input File Specified' when calling phpmyadmin on the host.

Looking for information to error 'No Input File Specified' I only find info relating to IIS (php.ini doc_root ....).

I am not aware of running a webserver on win xp and only want to use phpmyadmin of my webaccount. So why should I need a webserver?

Funny thing is calling "hosts-phpmyadmin" from my old win 2000 pc was no problem (there I have an Apache server running).

Still believing that installation of apache on my new win XP system will not solve this problem, I want to ask how I can get rid of this error (need to do a lot of name-changing in the database because my site moved to a different domain -> by the way: using databases across domains should not cause problems?).

Anyone knows?

PS:
... this was my last search in my favourite search-tool anyfinder for "'No Input File Specified'" php.ini doc_root:

... just to start with, the status of the sticky topics in XOOPS:

Beginner's Corner
no sticky topics

Module usage questions
no sticky topics
... mmmh. small question, are all sticky topics removed? So where do I find info of the content of forum?
... ups. 2 sticky topics noticed on second sight -> the colour for sticky should be very distinct, was much better before redesign.

In Beginners Corner I would like to have a sticky topic, that shows different paths for people who want to run XOOPS in the web exclusively (I would like to, cause my local webserver seems to be slower than my web connection/hosting provider). If web-xoopsing is a real alternative for non-developers (could be advertized then anyhow, cause this only-web-XOOPS-feature is not very known, all you guys are developers and do ftping a 100 times aday, I suppose?), then there should be a path to first steps info concerning "configuration of web-xoops with board-tools of hostprovider" -> forinstance databasename -> my provider prefixes dbname so it didnot match to my local dbname -> best practice: set up webhost first and create local db with the dump containing prefixed database?).

So if somebody can shed some light on XOOPS handling of "first steps" information, I'd be happy.

greets asche

PS: I suppose many newbies search info only in forum and not often switch to XOOPS-Wiki -> thats why I am so "stuck with first steps info" in the forum.

PPS: If anybody is fine with XOOPS "to-begin-with-info" please delete this topic.
