You were just ahaed of me Jan.
I saw you were online when I made the post, and expected a reaction .

Guess people start to know me here

Off course we both speak Dutch, but Belgians do have some non-Hollandic expressions, which I 'corrected', according to my (not expert) opinion.

I can't deny that, but, you "Hollanders" also have Hollandic-only expressions which we don't understand. Something you people seem to forget so now and then...

Quote:
I did not went through the complete files yet, but I am surely willing to make a contribution to the Dutch language files.

Mm, I prefer that you edit file by file instead of just giving me 'corrected' files. That's why I invited you for joining the dutch translation team. This way you will be able to edit the 'official' translation.

Only thing that's keeping me for this moment is a lack of time (but who hasn't...), due to a 60 hour per week job and the construction of my new house.

60 hour week? Lucky I'm still going to school .

Hi there,

Quote:
By the way: the guy who translated the files in Dutch is from Belgia, I guess.
There are some none Dutch expressions in the language files.

Belgia? I think you meaning from Belgium or Flanders. Yes, I'm. You clearly say 'Dutch expressions' which means we don't speak Dutch or so? I think I will do like I haven't read it...

Quote:
But he did a good job and it's a good start.
I checked and improved sevceral files by hand.

Think I will take that as a compliment.

However, you say you improved the files. Why haven't I ever received a file with corrections? If you read on DXS (Dutch XOOPS Support) you will see I repeatedly ask people to contribute corrections, nobody except people from the DXS admin team ever did that.

And if you got time over and want to correct the language files, I invite you to mail me, so you can join the translation team.

Greetings, Jan

PS: I have not written language files alone, people who contributed big parts of the translation: Shine and Herko.

The news article had a wrong version number (version 2 in place of 3), I have asked it to change it later.

So are you running version 2 or 3 RC1? Download the lastest version to make sure you aren't running any other version.

And about the blank page, shoutbox doesn't contain a mainpage, it exists of a block with a popup. This is clearly stated in the readme file (not that long to read )

Chmod means giving dirs/files rights. A bit the same like read-only in windows. You must make sure the file is writeable by the user who is running php.

Goodluck.

The register.php file is just fine...

Before the switch there is a function defined (userCheck to be exactly), and a function is only executed after being called...

So nothing to panic, file is just fine, and no overkill code.

// Edit: I see you mean the switch won't work. Well, it will. Check the loop after the hard definement. This well set eventually back the $op var.

Or an extension for inserting XoopsCodes (like phpBB's bbcode) in text fields?

Such thing already exists:

Hi etrivias,

Almost missed the thread... Curious how problems rise. However since you are on a free host I get the feeling the problem does not lay on my site...

The file does not necessary requires 777 permission, but at least writing permissions. So 766 should do it (apply it on uploads/shoutbox/shouts.cvs).

If the problem remains, enable php debug (System Admin - Settings) and post here any debug error that shows up during the use of shoutbox. You might also tell your XOOPS and php version.

You may want to filter the get variables on your page. Your site -may- contain XSS-leaks...

I would advice you to do something about it...

Read the comment of Mith on that news article:
Quote:
Xoops 2.0.9 beta is released without modules because it is a test version and because the PHP5 compatibility measures, we have taken in 2.0.9 has not been added to the "core" modules.
Whether the full version 2.0.9 will have any modules in it is still unsure but it is a fact that 2.1/2.2 will not hold any modules. Instead I will be working with the Module Developers to compile packages targeting specific site types and release them along with the separate core package.

A bit futher Kazu posts that 2.0.9 final will contain modules.

If I place the following code in my .htaccess gzip is enabled:
php_value output_handler ob_gzhandler

The one of ackbarr also worked:
php_flag zlib.output_compression on
php_value zlib
.output_compression_level 5

If people now want to enable gzip they can try out a lot of codes...

Well I just reviewed their site and indeed they have removed all traces of any free versions, which I find a total crock of sh!t. The damn thing was founded to be a free BB board and now the greedy little &*^%$$ want money for it. They even go as far as to say you can't even talk about the software on their forums (regarding why it is pay and no longer free) cause they'll instantly remove it.

Yes, this was announced almost a month ago that they would completely remove the free version.

See:
http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php?showtopic=149069

I don't know, or anyone still remembers why Invision was developed, but I remember there slogan (was a bit different, but looks like it): "Why paying for a bulletin board, if you can get one for free?". (I think they were refering to vBulletin)

Hopefully Math will get his brain backs in place of thinking only of money...
