Shoutbox ?!

I've tried to install Shoutbox 3.0 RC but i got no good results it just show the bar that says shoutbox and there is nothing else no way to insert text ecc..

I cant set the preferences of the module in the administration panel and i dunno why!

If anyone knows why it doesnt work or what i do wrong tell me please...

Otherwise just suggest me another shoutbox which works good...thanks! :)

as always - the first step to troubleshooting is to turn on php debug and try your action again. Look for any error messages displayed in or below the page and post them here.

there are no errors on the page when i am in the administration panel if i click on Preferences of the shoutbox i get sent to the site preference page.
on the homepage of the site i see nothing instead just an empty box that only says shoutbox

I have a same problem. I am using Shoutbox 1.0 and it works fine, but the smiley bar cannot be shown.

Shoutbox 3.0 RC -preferences and then just tick
## Show smiley bar in PopUp ##
I think that is on line 10 or 12

Hi.
You do have shoutbox 3.0 RC1 right.
Take a look at "read me" and do not forget to chmod 777
and in Clone under shoutbox of course "generate",
If you've checked this items it should be all right.

i cannot chmode to 777 cuz of my stupid free webhosting which allows MySQL php and everything but has certain weird rules about chmode..

thanks anyway..

Hi etrivias,

Almost missed the thread... Curious how problems rise. However since you are on a free host I get the feeling the problem does not lay on my site...

The file does not necessary requires 777 permission, but at least writing permissions. So 766 should do it (apply it on uploads/shoutbox/shouts.cvs).

If the problem remains, enable php debug (System Admin - Settings) and post here any debug error that shows up during the use of shoutbox. You might also tell your XOOPS and php version.
