Yep, Herko, your credibility goes down the tubes. Are you still sure that you qualify to be the chairman of the Foundation?

Now, who has approved the

http://xoopsfoundation.org/

Website? Was the XOOPS Project Council involved, or was it your decision?

There's no legal requirement for any audit whatsoever. The $500/year in donations doesn't warrant it either. The members of the Board are legally not allowed to be paid for their work for the Foundation, the spending of monies is governed by the goals of the foundation as put in the statutes. It's that simple

Herko

It's not only about donations, but also about the money generated from advertisement.

Herko, your attitude about this shocks me. You claim to be a chairman of the XOOPS foundation and you just don't feel any accountability for the reporting of the XOOPS financials. People here have to raise again and again the issue of reporting before you commit to publishing it. We went through this already once, and I see that things didn't change much.

Please show me any "serious and successful" open source project where people are as careless as you're. Look at Apache and how hey manage the money, and maybe you can learn something from it:

http://apache.org/foundation/records/

This is something that shows me that the Apache leaders CARE about the organization, and that they feel ACCOUNTABLE to the members on what they do with the money.

I wish, you would exhibit a similar attitude of accountability! Somehow I don't sense that in you, and that's a real shame!

Damaster, I am NOT asking every member of XOOPS to sign with their real name. And since I am just a normal member, thus I'm applying the same standard to me as to others.

However, if somebody is an officer of XOOPS, i.e. is a member of the council, etc. and makes or influences decisions about XOOPS Foundation and how we spend the money there, then I think, it's only fair that these people say who they are.

I don't think that any auditor or legal counselor of an organization where money is involved, would say that this is OK that people are involved in financial decisions and we don't know their real names. Look at Linux, Apache, and Joomla, and everybody knows who the leaders are.

If we're saying that we want XOOPS to be the #1 CMS and be accepted by companies and press, then we should act according to it.

It seems to me that to a certain degree we're still in the "hacker mentality" with our leaders using nick names. And as such, it will be hard for us to find acceptance among corporate world to use XOOPS, and among press to promote it.

Joomla is way better in Public Relations, getting awards, etc. than us. But they come across way more professional than us.

For me there is a difference between these two sites:

http://www.joomla.org/content/blogcategory/43/85/

https://xoops.org/modules/wfchannel/index.php?pagenum=17

with Joomla looking more professional and creating a sense of credibility.

I said "Officers", not everybody. I have nothing to do with money, or I don't make any decisions about money. If somebody is serious about being a team member that runs XOOPS, it should be no problem to introduce themselves to the community who they are.

Please look at Joomla:

http://www.joomla.org/content/blogcategory/43/85/

It's very nice and very professional.

While I appreciate your link to SourceForge, you lost me there. I don't find anything there. People who use nick names are listed with nick names. So how does it compare to Joomla?

Suggestion for XOOPS officers (members in a leading position) - I would like to suggest to start working using the real names.

When we are dealing with money and make decisions about money (via the XOOPS Foundation), we should use real names.

This will also help to keep discussions and disagreements more leveled, as people will be (for the most part) more civilized in their responses. It's easy to change the nick name, but with a real name, and with Google recording all responses, that will stay forever hunting you into the future, most people will think twice about what and how they say it, so we should expect a little less of mean/silly/disrespectful comments

At Joomla the Core team is publishing their names and even location where they live:

http://www.joomla.org/content/blogcategory/43/85/

and I find it that it adds certain level of professionalism and credibility to Joomla.

I believe that our leaders should do the same.

We'll also need yearly audits with some official statement from a local certified accounting company.

Did we have already any audits in place? If yes, could you include them as well? If not, when could we expect a first audit?

This is possible in the EXM edition. The admin interface is the default theme, just edit it and you're done. The drawback is that the classic interface is not available at all, but you can create your own.

It would be good to have the classic Admin GUI available as well, so the user could switch between them. The default should be the EXM, but the user could switch to the Classic one if needed. The same as it is done with the standard themes that come with the XOOPS installation.

By having the separation I wouldn't have to wait for the EXM update for 2.0.17, but just could use it like a theme in 2.0.17
