Did you unzip the file? No need for "Tar" it is based on the "default" template. Skins are called themes here.

If not unzip the file and upload the folder called 0z_XTv2RC3 in the "themes" folder to your themes folder on the server.

Then go to system admin, preferences, general settings, and choose OZ as your default theme. Make sure you also have the "Default" template set as the default

Thats it

You will still see the existing theme you are in. The system thinks that is your default user theme you have chosen and remembers that you last used it. So in general settings you can also highlight the themes you want to be selectable if you decide to activate the "themes" block in blocks Admin. You make a theme selectable by going to "Selectable themes" in General settings. Highlight the themes you want to be selectable.

You can also go to Groups and make sure the Webmaster group is the only group that can select themes using this block if you wish. Handy for editing and trial and error, users still only see the default theme set up in preferences. This allows you to work on another theme, and users dont notice anything but the default theme set up

Assuming you dont want News as your startup module you could include a custom block at the top centre-center with your own HTML in it, and have an intro there with anything you wish, including graphics.

Underneath that the choice is your's recent news, recent topics from forum. top news etc. Place them centre centre, or right or left.

A module called "Spotlight" (do a search) exists, which you can use to feature news articles etc. The new "Topics" module for News is very good, allows you to single out categories, topics etc.

Wfsections is a great content manager, which comes with a variety of blocks for articles.

Xcgallery (integrated from coppermine) has the ability to show pictures from gallery, with almost unlimited choices for picture presentation through blocks, including actual pictures, "static" shows latest pictures in a block, you choose how many, and/or "Scrolling" block shows random pics.

If you wish have a look at the site I am building (for ages, might get time to finish it someday) athttp://macambridge.com and click on Mac Gallery to see what I mean.

Xoops unlimited blocks power and simplicity is excellent, I dont think any CMS can compare that I know I about. I could not go back to any other CMS after being spoilt by Xoops..:)

Hopefully a coder can help you..

In the meantime, I dont know if this is of any help, but the new spaw editor patch for XOOPS News defaults to creating url links that open in the same window.

It does not use [url]. The user first selects the text and and then clicks on the insert hyperlink facilty.

It automatically creates links like this:

<A href="https://xoops.org/">Xoops</A>

It is only useful in Explorer though. If users don't have explorer it defaults back to the XOOPS editor automatically.

Spaw

In wfsection Admin go to "General Configuration"

Look for the line "Display user comments on article page?"

Then click "Yes" and then "Save Changes" at the bottom

This one is a bit of a learning curve but very good once you get into it. Users can edit there own articles which is great.

First, in admin click on the Arms module button, set up your Categories, then set up your Sections (sections are assigned to categories from a dropdown box)

Back in the Arms Admin page you will see a link further down for "Levels", a level is assigned to an article when you create one through a dropdown box--this adds a level link into the article as you may see on the demo. Levels can also be hidden as the author mentioned. (dont know how yet)

In Arms admin go to articles management, this page shows how many articles exist and a search facility. Go to " Add article" on the left main menu.

This dialogue box is the description, not the article, (you need to add a page later) in this text box you need to type a couple of lines, or it will reject, not sure how many words you need yet. Assign it to a section and level from the dropdowns.

After you have the description accepted, you are presented with another page, further down is an "Add Page" link. Click this and you are presented with the standard XOOPS editor, add your stuff. (again in the text box you need a min amount of characters, couple of lines should do it)

The article will not appear in the index page, you need to do 2 things to have it visible.

Further down the page you are now in it will have "Article on hold" in red, click "Change", and confirm.

Then go to "My Articles" on the main menu, and you will see your articles listed, To the right of your article look for a little "Activate" button, click this and your article link will appear on the index page.

Hope this assists to get you going, it is an interesting module.

With a spaw editor bypassing the linebreak thing it would be one of the best content modules around.

I hope to find out how to disable the permissions things in some of the navagation facilities, seems to be hardcoded in.

EDIT: The levels I cant get to grips with at all, links to a level in an article lead to a level page, but how to put content in that level I have not got a clue..the breadcrumbs are repeating the same info as the article heading, display untidy, probally needs a good style sheet or something, at the moment I give up..

Did you PM Catswolf? He is probably a busy man leading the XOOPS team etc.

I tried the apparantly bug free XFsections, but this has the same problem. I am about to put my site into launching stage, it would be great if this could be fixed, looks unprofessional if users get emails to the wrong links.

A wonder this has not been noticed before, makes me wonder if users are actually submitting articles on live sites, I doubt it..

Looks like these are missing defines in the language file for the module

The first ones you mentioned i.e.

_NW_NOTIFYMSG

These are called in this file around lines 160, 161

modules/wfsections/submit.php

_WFS_THANKS and the others probably needs to be defined in:

wfsections/language/english/main.php

like this:

define("_WFS_THANKS","Thanks for your submission.");

define("_NW_NOTIFYSBJCT","anything"); // Notification mail subject
define("_NW_NOTIFYMSG","Hey! You got a new submission for your site."); // Notification mail message

Yes theme html is the one.

To get rid of the left block completely one way to go is to add an "IF" command i.e

The left block will have no menus showing if you set this up in blocks admin, but will still be blocking a "100%" view, with the space still visible where the blocks would be--to overcome this you need to add an "IF" command to your "leftblocks" code in your theme.html file--something like this:

<!-- End Headerbar -->

<table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0">
<tr>
<{if $xoops_lblocks}>
<td class="leftcolumn" valign="top" style='background-image: url(<{$xoops_imageurl}>bg_left.gif);'><div class="leftcolumn">
<!-- Start left blocks loop -->
<{foreach item=block from=$xoops_lblocks}>
<{include file="x2t/theme_blockleft.html"}>
<{/foreach}>
<!-- End left blocks loop -->
</div></td>
<td width="100%" valign="top" class="contentbox">
<{/if}>
<!-- Display center blocks if any -->

Look for:

<{if $xoops_lblocks}>

leftblocks code in here

<{/if}>

Also if you look for the imago-04 theme, and have a look at the theme.html, this will show you a way to have all your blocks (right and left) appear on the right.
