There used to be a module called online games, that may be a good starting point. It works on all versions of xoops. If you can't find it I will put it up for download for you. You can see it here games

After you overwrite your old files you shouldn't need to do the install procedure again, as I don't think you could with the existing database. What you would do is just go into admin>modules and update the system module. If you look at the changes.txt file in the Docs folder you downloaded it will tell you the differences between the versions. Also if you download the update files and look you can see exactly which files were changed. Not sure about 2.0.5rc but I had 2.0.5a I think and there were only 5 files that were changed. None of them affected anything on my site.

Hope this helps.

That should work but all modules might not work properly

Try This.
BACKUP DATABASE - FIRST
Upload 2.0.5.1 to the new server, set folders to the correct permissions, copy all of the modules that YOU installed, NOT the modules that are part of XOOPS (the core),copy your old mainfile.php file to the new server, change the XOOPS_URL and XOOPS_ROOT_PATH to reflect the new server.

Try it out, it should work and this would be using your current (old) database. I just did this to see if it would work for me and it did, but all modules may not work properly because of some core changes between 2.0.3 and 2.0.5.1
This will be an easy way to tell you what will work and what modules you may have to update if any. DO NOT make any changes until you move it to your new database because that is your current Database and you don't want to mess it up.

Hope that helps.

I think you are looking at the alt tag and thinking it should print text. All that it does is if there isn't an image, (the arrows) then it prints the word next or previous or whatever. But as long as there is an image, that is all you will see. That would be normal. Hope this is what you were asking.

Not completely sure but this might help.

In the mainfile.php file you need on the following lines:

not sure on a windows server but it would end like this:
define('XOOPS_ROOT_PATH','??????/html/xoops/html');

and this line:

define('XOOPS_URL', 'http://www.website.com:8080/xoops/html');

If you are using a redirection from No-IP or a company like that your XOOPS_URL needs to be what the redirection address is.

Hope this helps.

It does work , I was using a category that had no listings in it so it brought back nothing. I was thinking if there were sub categories, that would count as something, and return something. But It works if there is a listing in the category.
Thanks.

Thanks alot, I thought it worked once, then I was doing other stuff with the site and when I tried it later it didn't work,
not sure if I used a category with the same key word as in the description, or if it really worked. But now it doesn't work. I changed it back to original, made changes again and still won't work. Just curious but could that change be made in the file:

search.php

Thanks again

Thanks,

I'm very interested, right now I return nothing with the search.

By the way your site looks real good, nice work. I saw it a while ago and it is filling up nice, hope I have that happen for me.

Figured it out today by accident, put the following code in a custom block as a php script.

echo xoops_getbanner();

and that is it.
