I'm changing from my webhost to another.
I'm using the XOOPS 2.0.3 and in the new webhost I want to use the XOOPS 2.0.5.1.

I would like to know if I could install the XOOPS 2.0.5.1 in the new webhost and after that I could just upload my old SQL database, dir and files.

Is this possible?

I use some modules like wfsection, x-albumP and others.

How can I do this change without losing something?

That should work but all modules might not work properly

Try This.
BACKUP DATABASE - FIRST
Upload 2.0.5.1 to the new server, set folders to the correct permissions, copy all of the modules that YOU installed, NOT the modules that are part of XOOPS (the core),copy your old mainfile.php file to the new server, change the XOOPS_URL and XOOPS_ROOT_PATH to reflect the new server.

Try it out, it should work and this would be using your current (old) database. I just did this to see if it would work for me and it did, but all modules may not work properly because of some core changes between 2.0.3 and 2.0.5.1
This will be an easy way to tell you what will work and what modules you may have to update if any. DO NOT make any changes until you move it to your new database because that is your current Database and you don't want to mess it up.

Hope that helps.

HOw can I upload my MySQL backup to my new webhost?
I already install the new XOOPS version. But I have no idea how to use my old back up.

Use the restore backup in the Cpanel of your new webhost. Just click on the link that says backup and it will have a section that says restore backup.

Thanks, I did but I got this error message:

gzip: /tmp/cpanel.TMP.cAtHHTrewOzGUrHV: not in gzip format
ERROR 1102: Incorrect database name 'airsoftb_bkp0312041932.sql'

I have my old data base in .zip and .sql

What can I do now?

Re: Changing webhost and xoops.

If it's in sql, you can go to phpmyadmin and click the sql link at the top of your XOOPS database and upload a .sql or .txt file that way.

Ok, but the .sql file must have a especifica name?
Because my .sql file has this name: bck0312041932.sql
I must use another one?

Thanks very much for you paciente because I never did this before!

Re: Changing webhost and xoops.

The sql file can have any name that you want. I've uploaded data into my XOOPS site through phpmyadmin before because I was moving posts, news or users over from another site. It works. Sometimes you may get an error from your backup sql file because the file has missing syntax somewhere. It may not happen to you, it has for me when I uploaded forum posts text to my MySQL database.

Re: Changing webhost and xoops.

Also, your sql file that you upload may be too big for the database server to handle. You may have to break down the file into smaller files to get them to upload correctly.
