Re: Why XOOPS?

Bare in mind that the XOOPS version on cmsmatrix is 2.06, so it's quite out of date.

http://www.opensourcecms.com is also a good site, and you can try out all the major cms's without installing them.

I think the major ones, as mentioned above are all quite similar, and it really boils down to what you are most comfortable administrating. Best to try them out and see how they feel to you.

Re: How to let users upload files to website

Hi,

Welcome to xoops, I'm glad you're having fun.

Take a look here for the latest version of wf-downloads, which IMO is the best download module available. You will also find other options in the module repository.

Happy xoopsing

Re: LAMP Installation

I find it's best to go with a disto that sets it up for you I use Fedora as a test server at home, you can set it up as a webserver without any further setup as far as I can remember. If not it's very simple to run 'yum install.....'

Re: Access Admin without logging into the frontend?

Sure, first visit user.php and login, then visit admin.php

Re: Where to type http://yoursite.com/ to start install

You only need to upload the contents of the 'html' folder not all 3 folders.

Re: upgrade my xoops

This is what you will need to do:
XOOPS 2.0.6 to 2.0.7 patch
XOOPS 2.0.7.x to 2.0.9.2 patch
XOOPS 2.0.9.2 to 2.0.10 patch
XOOPS 2.0.10 to 2.0.12a Patch
XOOPS 2.0.12a to 2.0.13 Patch
XOOPS 2.0.13 to 2.0.13.1 Patch (this one might not be necessary, anyone confirm?)
XOOPS 2.0.13.1 to 2.0.13.2 upgrade

Seems you got a bit behind there

Re: Vote for features

Quote:
But who is going to write the hack to manage this in the membership module?

I no developer, just an idea floater

But I do think this would be a good way to bring the community more into the direction and development of the project.

It would ease developers, as they wouldn't have to worry about prioritising feature requests, and it would also encourage people to help out there fellow xoopsers on the forums. All good IMO
