The way I see it, on most sites, the users and the people who purchase advertising from you are completely seperate from one another, so log-in wouldn't be duplicated anyway.

And advertising normally takes place on behalf of a company, ie: a company account, whereas site membership is personal - again, two different things.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a lot of people have a use for it to be ported - I'm just highlighting these points so that maybe some people can use it as it stands.

I'm not sure if it's all as simple as that, to be honest. I know for example that the MySql and Postgre versions of PhpMyAdsNew are distributed as seperate applications and not one application with two different databases.

I'm not sure what the restrictions are, but it's deffo worth looking into.

I don't disagree with this. However, if software already exists that will do this, why do we need to integrate it within Xoops? All we need to do is introduce the invocation code into the theme and voila.

I wouldn't personally go so far as to say that this is an ESSENTIAL feature.

It is VERY easy to use ANY other banner management system as an external program, and have the banners displayed on your XOOPS site by removing the <$xoops_banner> in the theme.html file and replacing it with the invocation code generated by your banner management system.

If that's the case, I think I'd prefer my computer a bit more like my women: dumb, naive and easily manipulated

Cheers guys...

I think for the time being I'll assume it's an ISP problem, as I've just managed to access their site as well, which it wasn't letting me access before.

Hi guys!

This is far from being a XOOPS problem, but this is the only place in the world I could possibly ask for help, as you'll soon see.

My problem is that all of a sudden I can't seem to access ANY other website other than xoops.com! I know this sounds incredible, and believe me I'm as confused as anybody else would be, but it's definately happening!

Whenever I attempt to access any other website, including my own, I recieve a server not found error... when I attyempt to log onto MSNM I get a "cannot find service" error... when I attempt to check my POP email via Outlook, I get a "could not find server" error...

All this would normally indicate to me that there is something wrong with my connection... either physically or in the settings... however I have reset my broadband connection manually several times, cleared all caches and even run a virus scan - I'm clean. It is very bizarre that it still lets me access XOOPS though don't you think?

Any ideas would be gratefully received... much as I love Xoops, I don't want to be trapped here forever!

What exactly do you want the module to do / contain? If it's basically a reviews module, you should try searching for "reviews module" in the forums... there have been plenty of threads in the past.

It does sound like an overheat problem to me as well. Rather than just throw an extra fan in though, you might want to take the casing off and give it a good dust. I have to do this every 6 months or so with my PC or it slows down inexplicably, then often freezes in the way you've described. The dust clogs up the fan and it can't rotate fast enough to keep the CPU and graphics card cool.

Hi mate,

At the minute, there's a lot of work going on behind the scenes with the core modules of XOOPS for the next release. The devs time is largely being spent modifying and perfecting the forum and news modules in particular at the minute, hence they haven't much time to look at modules outside the core... they need to sleep as well!

That's not to say you should give up on the idea though... somebody here might know of a module that they could hack for Xoops, or might be willing to write it for you... but I just thought I'd let you know what the current situation is.

Gareth
