How many splits can XOOPS bear?

Isn't it sad that XOOPS has to suffer a new (notsonew) split again? XOOPS Cube is the new japanese (so-called safe and stable) Version from the 2.0x-series.

I cannot understand why this have to be this way. Every split weakens a project.

The fact that 60% of the people in the poll on the German cube-support-site want to use the cube-version instead is alarming (OK, 15 votes are not this much).

The "Official" XOOPS does not have to fear the CUBE right NOW. As a German saying says: "They only cook with hot water too". There are "bugs" in this version that are ancient.

But it seems that the adverbials? "secure" and "stable", which are the "headlines" of the CUBE attract more and more people. Perhaps the "Official" XOOPS heads missed to emphasize that "Official" XOOPS is secure and stable?

Just my two Euro cents.

No, I got no answer from my hoster. Their only advice was to update all scripts to the newest version.

Any information from your hoster?

I don't know if this covered elsewhere? I had the problem that notifications could not be deleted. So I digged a bit deeper and found out that somehow during updating to a higher version of XOOPS this line:

<input type="hidden" name="XOOPS_TOKEN_REQUEST" value="<{$notification_token}>" />

wasn't in the templates after updating. Yes, I made a system-modul-update, but this is not the final question. Wouldn't it be good when the token is to be EXPECTED in the code and the script receives NO token that there will be at least a warning?

xcgal has an internal "debugger". You can turn it off in the module preferences.

460-480 queries? So many modules and blocks running on your startpage?

Is the option for updating templates and themes automatically disabled?

I made a small test locally and for one user with only a few blocks and it saved me 8 queries. Just a guess!

The before mentioned code-samples are part of header.php and footer.php in your xoopsroot.

I guess that you perhaps forgot some files during update. I seems that old and code have been mixed.

My advice: Make a complete copy (db and files) and install it locally. Copy the files from 2.2.2 to your local installation and overwrite the old ones and check if it works now.

If you have the complete german files, then you can switch to German, but this does not mean that you will have german content!

With the language hacks and a special markup you can write additional german content.

Please, please do NOT use automatic translators. Noone will take you serious. When I am in a bad mood I use the Google tool to translate xoops.org. This will give me always a good laugh. Example? Your name in your post was translated to the german equivalent Fruchtsirup which means (don't know the correct word) Fruitsyrup.

No phpMyAdmin? Their list of features says something else. In most cases there is no need for phpMyAdmin when it comes to installing XOOPS. BUT it is always good to have some mySQL-Tools - there are several out there.

I cant really see a difference in performance.. sorry ;)

There will be no difference in performance. I only wanted to point out that module developers MUST not reinvent the wheel and write functions that are already available through smarty.

An overview of all smarty-functions you can find HERE!

If you turn on Smarty-Debug in System-Administration you can see all smarty-variables currently used on the page.

My post was meant for a motivation to use more smarty, because there is much more than foreach-loops and cycle.

I wonder which way is faster or better? Writing a) code for each module with the possibility of making errors inside the code or b) use a smarty-function which works?

a) is easier to administrate, but b) means less code!
