Thanks for checking up Bender, I thought this sounded out of Character from what I have experienced with my dealings with Goran.

I've dealt with Goran from 7dana personally, and from my experience a letter such as the one posted here seems a little out of character. Althought some of the id's you're using are signature 7dana, I just can't imagine the first e-mail contact you getting being so abrupt. Can I ask you if the e-mail was signed by Goran himself? In any case you may just wish to alter the class and/or id tag names in your theme.html and CSS so that there is no reference to 7dana code.

Great idea, but ultimately I agree with Herko. The issue with XOOPS isn't the lack of great ideas generated by the community, it's a lack of available time from those who have the talent to turn those ideas into code. I also think votes should extend further than forums posts, as having a lot of forum posts doesn't necessarily mean much. I'm a prime example .

Great work sudhaker, this is a feature that has gained a lot of popularity with other OS CMS's such as Joomla with the OpenSEF component and Drupal with the Path (which is actually a part of the core) and Pathauto modules. I think what will be good for XOOPS is when 2.3 comes out were this functionality will be included in the core (similar to Drupal) so module developers don't have to code this on a per module level.

Hi Emma,

This is the right place to ask, but unfortunately you have come across one of the very few holes in the XOOPS notification system UI. There is no easy way to set at a global level for XOOPS to notify you that a new comment has been posted. Comments are subscribed to at an item level, meaning that you have to subscribe to be notified of new comments for every link, download, article or FAQ you have created, and for any new ones that are created in the future.

You could run an SQL script on your DB on a regular basis to manually update the notifications table so that you are set to receive notifications for all content. Other than that if you are just wanting to know when there are comments waiting for approval you could use the "Waiting Contents" block.

Not sure exactly, but you could probably just use a calendar or booking module for this. Have a look at these modules.

I have no problems with a persons personal preference to Windows or *nix, but when people say that an operating system is something less than it should be because they can't get it to work it REALLY p1sses me off (regardless of whether they are bagging Windows or Linux as I use both). The fact that you lack the technical know how to install and configure Xoops/MySQL on a Windows system is in no way a short coming of Microsofts operating systems, so don't pretend it is anything otherwise. I have had zero problems with running PHP/MySQL/Xoops on a Windows/IIS platform for around 3 years, and there an many more who have had the same success as well.

Conclusion: The fact that you were unable to get XOOPS running on a Windows platform is in no way a short coming of that system, and is instead due to a lack of your technical knowledge.

You're right m0nty. This is a PHP environment issue rather than anything to do with Xoops. If you have set php.ini to load the MySQL extension, then double check that you have php.ini in the correct path. There are already complete how-to guides for XOOPS on IIS over at http://www.iis-resources.com .

Have you got the protector module installed? You'd need to write a custom script to run on a cron job to automatically gather IP addresses and add them to a .htaccess file, but it most certainly could be done.
