That did the trick Jimbo and seems to have cleared up another problem I was having too After logging in the site would still think I was a guest and boot me back out of areas that Guests can't enter. Second log in attempt always worked but it was annoying. Thanks, it's nice to have both issues behind me.

This morning, when I logged in Who's Online reported traffic as follows. Wierdly, I appeared 4 times at 64.180.167.126, once logged in and 3 times as Anonymous users. The site was incredibly slow as well. Other, non-xoops content at the same address loaded briskly. Any idea what's going on?

I'm using XOOPS 2.0.9.2 and haven't made any major changes recently.

Random everything module badly needed

Given the popularity of Random Quotes how about a similar module that allows the randomization of both an image and caption and possibly even optional sound file. There is a random sound module hacked from Random Quotes already but it would be nice to have the option of playing the file without waiting for a user click. Multiple blocks would be a nice feature as well.

Here's wishing...

XCGallery has that capability built in.

Sidebar Module Wanted

I'm looking for some way to randomly display an image with short caption as a sidebar much like the module Random Quotes.

I've tried using HTML in Random Quotes but that didn't work.

I also tried a couple gallery packages MyAlbum and XCGallery which feature blocks that nicely display the images but unfortunately leave out the captions.

I also tried Tiny Content but unfortunately that just gave me a menu item.

Any suggestions?

Database not updated! Error Message

When editing or adding content to the module Article Manager I suddenly started getting the message:

Quote:
Database not updated!

Turning on debugging revealed the following:

Quote:
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/whiskyj/public_html/bccarfree/modules/articles/admin/articles.php on line 299

When I went to articles.php line 299 I found the following code:

Quote:
$xoopsDB->query($sql) or $eh->show("0013");

I have no idea what this is all about but I suspect it might be connected to changes made in mainfile.php awhile back. Essentially all I did was change myurl.com to www.myurl.com in effort to overcome a different problem. After that I updated all modules.

Could anyone explain what this is all about? I'm using XOOPS 2.0.9.2 and article manager version 0.17

If I understand you correctly all you need to do is go to Admin > System module > Blocks

Scroll down to find the block you want to remove from your main page, click Edit and go to the line item: "Visible in" to select which pages you want that particular block to appear in. Deselect those that pages you don't want the block to show up on.

I think I read somewhere that you shouldn't select every item in addition to the All Pages item.

Instead of using the default menu block, try using MultiMenu module. Toggling between opening a page in a new window vs same window is quite simple using the Target option. Just use _blank to achieve the desired result, I think.

Nice tip Herko. Updating the modules solved the problems stemming from changes to mainfile.php.

Any insights into the double login issue?

Here's an addendum to the above issue. After changinghttp://yoursite.com
tohttp://www.yoursite.com in mainfile.php major errors occurred in the module Article Manager for XOOPS when adding new content. Debugging allowed me to trace it back to mainfile.php. Undoing those changes returned everything back to normal.

Something else that raschmidt mentioned about double login makes me think he's on the right track. Before logging in at my main page -- which isn't open to the public yet -- Who's Online always shows that there's one member and one guest when in fact there's only one person, me. Once I try logging in security spits me back out as outlined above in the initial post, proclaiming that I do not have permission. Security seems to be assuming it's the guest version of me rather than a member version of me that is trying to access deeper into the site.

I lack the knowledge and insight to know whether this is a bug or normal or just a quirk of my system. I have no idea whether this is related to the mainfile.php problem as discussed but would definitely appreciate some insight.
