I have been trying to rename / clone this module without much success...well, I can do it, but "something" always comes out wonky....the blocks will not display, etc.

Has anyone had any success with cloning this module (renaming the directory as well), and if so, how did you do it?

If you have some ideas on how this could be done, please PM me... we can discuss it further on MSN, to figure it out.

I recently created a site like this, but for XOOPS projects only. It's at Xoops Experts. I used the Classifieds module for the job posting area, and the weblinks module for the expert directory. The Liaise module is used for the contact form.

If you get those modules, you could create a similar site.

Hi everyone,

I was wondering how many people here check out both the Xoops.org web site as well as the web sites of other CMS's on a daily basis? I check the Xoops.org site daily, but only occasionally surf over to the Joomla or Mambo sites. I'd like to learn as much as I have learned about XOOPS for other CMS applications, but I have decided that XOOPS can basically do everything I want, and more.... and I just don't have the time to learn the intricacies of another CMS! But am I limiting my abilities with this type of thinking? Are you an XOOPS Expert, but stay on top of the details for other CMS packages as well? If so, are you just a casual surfer on those sites, or do you know other CMS packages to the same extent?

It's things that I know like "well, 2.0.17 works, but you have to apply the patch"...or "liaise is a great module...but only version 1.23 works with the 2.x.x branch" or "oh, that problem is occurring because XOOPS themes do this funny thing where"... etc. etc. This is the sort of thing that keeps me from exploring other CMS's...it's hard enough trying to stay on top of one package! :)

I would like to hear your thoughts on this!

First, thanks for your hard work on this release...I have been waiting for something like this for a long time!

A few things....

1. The .zip download on the Sourceforge site never seems to work for me...I always end up downloading a corrupt file. The .tar.gz download does work for me however. Just letting you know.

2. I want to use XOOPS 2.0.17 RC1, rather then just 2.0.17 (due to the login session issue). How can I upgrade your package to 2.0.17?

Thanks!

jeffgr

That sounds like a good idea actually..it just might work!

Let us know how it works out, and if you have any difficulties in the cloning process. It does sound like it would work in principle though.

Hi Keiran,

Yes, you are correct...if you need to use your regular theme on that module, then this solution won't work...this solution is really only suitable for using XOOPS as a completely hidden content management system.

There may be another way to do what you what to do however...anyone?

Regarding RSS, yes, this is another way that it could be done. If you use a module like SmartSection to publish your articles, it will give you RSS feeds for each category that you create. If you include a link back to your URL in each article, it will ensure that you get a link back to your site posted on the final web site, where the feed is displayed.

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any Facebook applications that have been built with Xoops, or which use XOOPS as the basis of their application?

Cheers,

jeffgr
