So is Xdonations logging donations back to the server? That is, does the donations block record the names (if supplied) and amounts? Does the donation goal get decremented accordingly?

I found the xdonations 1.9 worked, but the IPN did not record on the server.

I believe there is a patch on this site for upgrading. However, I would strongly advise that you install 2.2.2 on a test site and play with it for a while, testing whether the modules you use all work. Not all modules have been upgraded for XOOPS 2.2.x yet. I have been "playing" with 2.2.x but I won't upgrade my live sites until I'm happy everything works as close to perfectly as I can get.

What version of XOOPS are you using? You can do this in XOOPS 2.2, but not in XOOPS 2.0.x.

I recognize the reasoning behind the user name/display name idea and am comfortable with it. My only concern is that users on my site, and I suppose others, might find it confusing. I'd like to see a short explanation of what those fields are. Even better, I'd like to see a field that the admin could use to add a text passage at the top of the registration form. It could be used to explain those fields, but, as well, the webmaster could indicate other important information unique to a particular site. As an example, on the site I maintain, we MUST have full name and address information for people who are club members, in order to send them mailings. I can't make those fields required, because non-member registered users don't need to include them, and sometimes don't want to. A concern is that club members will go into their profile and delete information that we must have. I'd like them to be aware of the problem.

Therefore, I'd like to request the inclusion of such a field. If it were not filled in, nothing would appear, of course.

Thanks for listening,

My understanding is that this is a bug in the browsers, not in XOOPS or Koivi.

Mac OS X is a flavor of Unix, so what you need to do is use chmod to change permissions. OS X disguises this a bit. You can do it by highlighting the file or folder and using Get Info (command-i) or from the Finder Edit menu. However, I find it easier to visualize what I'm doing using the FTP program Transmit, which I can recommend anyway (www.panic.com/transmit). Using that program you will have a "Your Stuff" pane, which shows your local files and folders, and another pane for "Their Stuff", showing what's on the server you connect to. Click on a file or folder in either of those panes, and then press command-i or Get Info under the File menu in Transmit. That will show a box with the file permissions, including the Unix octal code (644, 777, etc). On sites like this and in instructions for installing modules, etc., you will often see the permissions referred to like that.

On dev.xoops.org it indicates that there is a new project for updating xcGal for XOOPS 2.2. I hope it happens. xcGal is my choice amongst the gallery modules, but the original developer is no longer with Xoops.

Also, athttp://www.zoullou.net/, it says that it is the development site for eXtCal (a calendar program) and eXtGal, which I assume is a gallery module. There is no word on the status of the latter, though.

Glad to help. I learned it myself the hard way and I'm glad to be able to pass it on.

Make sure you have <{$xoops_module_header}> in your theme.html. See this FAQ

If you search the site you'll find a long thread on this. Some people have had problems using donations, some not.

What version of XOOPS and of Donations are you using? There are at least three floating around, the 1.4, the 1.9beta and a hack of the latter, as I remember.

My personal experience has been that I could not get Donations to work on my primary live site running XOOPS 2.0.13. However, on a test site, also 2.0.13, it did. The problem on the live site was that the IPN was not getting back to the server and so donations weren't shown or deducted from monthly goals. On the test site that worked just fine.

I recently tried it on a new test installation of XOOPS 2.2. It installed, prefs could be set up, but I had the same problem as above. Donations were not registered on the server.

I hope some programmer will take a look at Donations on 2.2. I think it is iimportant to get it working.

By the way, I suggest that you try a test donation, if you have a private Paypal account to use. You can set up a $1 donation in the module and refund yourself later on the Paypal site.
