Did anyone above manage to get this working? I'm having the same issue as above where the captcha form doesn't show so new users can't register.

"User Profile" Module Broken

Hi All,

I seem to have broken my User Profile module (User Profile 1.79 (2012/6/18)
by Jan Pedersen; Taiwen Jiang; alfred; Wishcraft). Environment: XOOPS 2.5.5

I'm not sure what I've done, but:

1) Existing users can log in, but get "Sorry, you don't have the permission to access this area." when trying to Log Out.
2) New users cannot register because the CAPTCHA code doesn't display in the registration form like it used to.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the module, but that didn't fix the problem. I'm suspecting a permissions issue, but not sure.

Any idea what might be causing this?

Ok, so my understanding from this is that there is currently no viable / working paid-subscription module for XOOPS that doesn't require a substantial financial investment (ie. there are only commercially-available solutions, if any).

Is that correct?

How do I install a payment gateway for PayPal with the Subscription module?

Hi Mamba,

First I want to say thanks very much for your support with this issue - it's been very helpful!

Now I see what you mean about the content permissions.

I do still have one issue remaining - that is that the XOOPS group I created called "Owner", which has permission to add content, does not have permission to change the content permissions. When Owner goes into the Content Viewing Permissions to grant public access to a new article that was just created, clicks the checkboxes, and clicks Submit, he is redirected back to the front page of the site, and the newly-created content is not viewable - the Permissions don't "stick."

How do I enable the Owner group to grant permissions to view the content?

Thanks,

-b-

I've been looking for a good, basic content module for some time, and thought that xContent would be it.

I have 2.17 installed, but am getting pretty frustrated with it. I have two groups, Admin and Owner. (I am the admin installing/configuring the site on behalf of non-tech-savvy owner, who would like to be able to publish / edit his own content, understandably.)

Both Admin and Owner can add and edit content, but the pages only show up on the front end (in the Block where the xContent content goes) to the Admin. None of the other users can see links to added content - only the 1 page that is set as the "Homepage" in "Manage Content". I've been fooling around with permissions and other settings, both globally and on the module level, for quite some time now and can't seem to get anywhere.

Main issues:
- Pages other than "Homepage" don't show up in front-end block. (Only the page set as "Homepage" and the "Add Page" link show up in the front-end block.)
- Owner can click on "Add Page" to add content, but Clicking on link to newly-created page under "Content Page" in "Manage Content" redirects the Owner to the front-end Homepage page, not the newly created page.
- No users other than Admin can see links to created pages in the front-end xContent Block

My Options (?):
1) Figure out how to get xContent working
2) Wait (?) for an updated version of xContent to come out
3) Try another content module (have tried several already, unsuccessfully - this looked like it was the most promising so far)
4) Give up on XOOPS as a solution and try something else like Drupal

Any suggestions?
My customer just wants to be able to update a few content pages - nothing fancy. I do have to come up with something in the next week or so though, so if an update / fix for xContent is still a ways off, I need to find something else.

Thanks for any suggestions / info,

Thanks - I don't think it was a link issue in my case.
I ended up getting it to work after a lot of tweaking the user/group/block/module permissions - it took me a while to get everything playing together nicely. Just a lack of XOOPS experience on my part, I guess. (I've been using it for well over 10 years, just not on a daily basis.)

What's frustrating me at the moment is that, even though I was able to add a Page and have that show up in the block menu, the second and third pages I created don't show up in the menu. They show up in "Manage Content" in the module admin page, but not on the frontside user page. I tried to set everything the same as the link which is showing up, I even used the copy function to create a new page, but that isn't showing up either. Not sure yet why this is happening...

Hey Mamba,

Thanks for your work with xContent. I've just installed it and am really liking it so far. One thing I haven't figured out yet, though, is how to keep the "Subitems Menu for xContent" block from disappearing when I click to get the actual content (ie. a "storyid" URL). In other words, when I add content it creates a link that appears in the block on the front end, but when I click on the link in the block to go to the storyid, the storyid page loads and the block with the link to it (and other content) disappears.

I've been looking through the permissions to see if I was somehow locking myself out of access to the block, but couldn't find anything.

Any idea if this is a bug or something I'm doing wrong?

Hi guys,

I'm running Xoops 2.5.5 and have been looking for a good module for static pages. X-Center seemed like a winner, but I'm getting blank white pages, as some others in this thread have reported. I have ver. 2.15 of X-Center installed. I saw ver. 2.16 referenced above, but the Download Mirror (http://cid-6580d2a11c091017.office.live.com/browse.aspx/XOOPS%20Modules/X-Center) only has up to ver. 2.15 listed.

Where do I get 2.16?

Cheers,

More questions,

(1)
I now have the Membership (ver. 1.09), Xpayment (ver. 1.51), and User Profile (ver. 1.79) modules installed but in the Dashboard screen of the Membership module, I get "Does the required profile module field exist: No". Does this mean that I have the wrong version of the User Profile module installed?

(2)
User Profile (ver. 1.79) apparently allows for login via a user's LinkedIn, Twitter, and/or Facebook credentials. In the module Preferences, I've added the Facebook Application ID & Secret, but after logging out, I don't see a prompt to login via Facebook credentials. Is there something else that needs to be done to activate this?

Cheers,
