2 versions of xoops 2.2.3 - custom blocks

This is strange. I have 2 versions of XOOPS 2.2.3 installed. On this one:

http://www.horseshowsrus.ca/x

The custom blocks stopped working. This is the one I did a lot of installs and uninstalls of modules. I now notice the contextual Q&A of smartFAQ suddenly stopped working too. In addition, the admin block section of SmartFAQ gives me a blank page and gives this error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: getbymodule() in /home/horse/public_html/x/modules/smartfaq/admin/myblocksadmin.php on line 52.

I have another XOOPS version which is running on the same database (and using the same database tables - ie - with the same custom blocks installed). It does not have all the module software installed. It is here:

http://www.horseshowsrus.ca/x223/html/

As you can see, the custom block - Visit Our Sponsor has 'hi' in h2 - and it works! The contextual Q&A also works.

Both versions are the same XOOPS 2.2.3, just that one had a lot of module activity. It seems to me that something got corrupted somewhere with one of the module installs maybe?

If this is useful to anyone let me know, I need to try a brand new install fairly soon.

Deb

xoops 2.2.3 - problems with custom blocks being blank

I've been setting up modules using XOOPS 2.2.3 for a couple weeks now. I've noticed a few strange things.

I had phpadsnew working a few days ago. It suddenly stopped working - it was set up as a custom block with the invocation code added as a php script.

I added a new custom block with an iframe tag, didn't work. Removed iframe tag and just added < h2 >HI< /h2 > - doesn't work.

I also had some javascript errors, I could post them if it would help.

I'm using php 4.3, netscape 7.1, xmt theme. The custom blocks also do not work in the default theme.

On the admin side, the only modules link that works from the menu is modules -> administration. I have to go there, then click on the icon for each module to edit config for the modules.

In the last week I have installed and uninstalled a lot of modules trying to figure out which ones to use. Do you think something got corrupted? Should I reinstall everything?

Thanks,
Deb

Xoops 2.2.3 - using the xmt theme...

I made a custom block with this html tag:

< iframe src="http://www.weatheroffice.pyr.ec.gc.ca/pda/citygen_e.html?Client=PDACDN_e&city=YOW" height="80%" width="80%" >< /iframe >

(I added spaces for readability).

It doesn't work, is there a reason why? It works when I do a test page in plain html. (Yes the custom block is visible, just that there is no code in it when I view source on the page).

Thanks,
Deb

Oh dear, it looks like I have version 1.1 - I downloaded it from the module repository here.

I am ok with it the way it is for now (automatic validation) but... I'm a little worried what might happen when my site goes live in Feb, and I'm not sure if it's a module thing or XOOPS 2.2.3, I've had a few problems with a couple other modules.

Ok, I'm gonna post a new thread about my custom blocks problems...

Thanks,
Deb

Ok, that was an easy fix - had to fix the template.

However, under the admin section, I can't validate listings. The page shows up, everything is ok except down at the bottom. The description has extra code in it, and there's no submit button. I got around it by setting auto-validate on the listings.

Here's what happens when I go to validate a new listing:

The description field should contain the word 'test' - instead, it contains the word test and a whole bunch of other HTML that I can't even post because it breaks all the buttons and stuff on this page too!

I get no submit button, and all the links on the page don't work. Sorry - I don't know how to just display the HTML as code... weird!

I can add a listing from the admin side, but from the user side I get this:

"The requested URL /modules/xdirectory/submit.php was not found on this server."

This is true, the path is missing a directory on the front.

#OOPS#o,

My site is not production yet, I'm on XOOPS 2.2.3. Myads doesn't seem to work properly. I can't save my preferences, and the block admin page gives me a blank page.

Thanks,
Deb

Oops - silly me - should have said I'm using XOOPS 2.2.3 (very happy with it so far!)

I found a workaround. I installed CBB 2.3 and made a forum called "Show Forms", and allow large files to be attached to msgs. I think this could work pretty good.

Hmmm, XOOPS 2.2.3 doesn't seem to have a download section built-in.

Thanks!

Hello,

I am doing a horse show site and I want show organizers to be able to upload their entry forms to the site, so riders can download them. The organizers would not be all that computer-savvy so for example the net2ftp module is too complicated.

I've installed and tried most of the download modules but they don't let you upload files from your PC (unless I missed something!)

Is there a module to let you do this?

Thanks,
Deb
