HI all,
I am struggling with the installation of 2.4.1 on Windows server. First I tried direct installation of 2.4.1 but I was not able to configure as I was not able to proceed step 5/14. Then I removed and installed 2.2.3 and I was able to install.
After that I upgraded to 2.4.1 and all steps are GREEN. Strange thing is I am getting error "Selected module does not exist" but sometimes I don't get when I keep refreshing the page. My expectations are the error should always display or it should not. When this error is displaying I cannot go into admin area even. At that time I use to login the /upgrade/index.php.

I have not installed any additional module just using default. After this error even removed two modules so now only system. I have no idea where I am wrong or where is the problem.

- I cann't say if there is any issue in XOOPS 2.4.1?
- I cann't say if there is some issue on hosting side?
- I cann't say I am doing something wrong?

because there is no error appearing even after enabling debug option.

I have tried all possible solutions provided on the whole site or in this topic but seems not lucky. On the same hosting 2.2 version is not giving any issue but unable to setup 2.4.1 and seems page 6 is only for lucky people. Waiting to have any reply.

I have heard the may be sessions are not saved so how to check and how to set it so sessions should be saved as I gave write privs on all mentioned folders then what else.

Here is the response from hosting,

1) 'write' permission has been given to the following directories

* uploads/
* mainfile.php
* include/license.php
* xoops_data/caches
* xoops_data/caches/xoops_cache
* xoops_data/caches/smarty_cache
* xoops_data/caches/smarty_compile
* xoops_data/configs

2) We checked the MySQL database logins details and it is connection fine in local and server send as well.

Thanks for your replies. Well I am using Windows hosting as my other site has asp code as well for that I need to stay with windows. I remember was able to setup old version of XOOPS on the same hosting without problem it was I think 2.1 but after this version it is not allowing. No idea how to solve this problem...

Thanks for reply. Let me explain my problem in more detail. On step 5 Database connection when I am trying to move to step 6 it is not going to 6 but refreshing the same page. I talked to hosting guys and they came up with the following,

"We would like to inform you that while running applications like Xoops, there is a need to make a lot of changes and tweak settings to the way the servers are currently configured and its security settings. Unfortunately, as of now making such changes on the server would affect the other domains and sites running on the same shared server. For running Applications such as Xoops, you will need sign up for a dedicated server. "

I want to know what kind of changes XOOPS need to be running as my one site is already running using php, mysql, asp on the same hosting.

It is a shared hosting server and which I used old version but this new version is giving this problem. The hosting guys are suggesting that I need to purchase dedicated hosting? On my local machine I installed wamp and it is working but on hosting site it is not working. Guidance will be appreciated. thanks
