thankyou for your reply, i didnt actualy want the IP to block.
the reason i wanted it was to find abusing users,
there are some users that sign up under a different nickname/email after you remove their account.
just for my reference it would be good to know if they are past members.
i know that they may have different IP also, but it cant hurt to have that extra information.

I know there is a very basic stats module, and who is online block...
but is there anything for the admin of the site to get more info...
like:
online users
where they are on the site
page visit stats
e.t.c..

Im trying to modify the users in the groups..
But one of the groups when i go inside it underneath the checkboxes where you set the permissions it isnt showing the two columns of users where you add or delete them to the group...
it shows in all of them except the one group....
any idea whY?

sorry dude i think you got the wrong impression.
the only reason im asking is because i plan to make a lot of hard-coded changes to xoops, and didnt want to do it if the next version was out in a few weeks.
it looks like it will be a while longer, and im happy for that, so i will make the hard coded changes now, and wait for the release whenever..
