how can i change the layout of the 'thankyou for logging in' screen?

You will find this in the language files of Xoops

Xoops-Dir/language/user.php

well, that takes care of the language, but the layout can be found in the system admin -> templates -> system templates -> system_redirect.html template

when you edit how do you save changes.

Whoops sorry I seemed to have miss read there, thought you wanted to change text not design. 'Reachs for me jam jars' lol

Regards to other questio nmmm when you edit a file, you could always click the save option......

does not have save option, only view option.

as i was typing my first question i knew i was being forgetful. clicked my site to remote view and all is well and updated.

editing of the default templates is not allowed due to the fact that this way you always have a working template set. Clone the template set, and then you can edit the templates
